Great job. Carpets were dry in just a few hours and the treatment used for our pet odor worked very well. I will use them in the future any time I need my carpets cleaned.

I thought I would have to replace this carpet- The last tenant I had at this rental property had animals and they went wild and destroyed this carpet- there were pet stains and messes and the carpet was disgusting. I was hoping to get one more year of tenants before I had to replace the carpet but I called Magic Carpet- and it looks almost brand new now- it's amazing! I did end up paying for the enzymes to eliminate the nasty odor and that was def. worth the extra $$ I will def. be using them in the future-

They came today and cleaned the carpet in my house, and I am very pleased! Communication before hand was excellent, and they were okay with my changing the date of the appointment. I received a call yesterday confirming today's appointment, this morning when the service man was on the way, I got a call letting me know he would be there soon, and he was! He listened carefully to what I asked him to do, and did it, somehow managing to get chocolate candy out of the carpet and a terrible dog odor out of one of my rooms! Great job for a reasonable price!

Sherelle and Missie arrived as scheduled. Warm and friendly, they went right to work on my toughest problems-- Pet hair. :( They left my house so clean and smelling wonderful. Now we're set for the holidays. I'd definitely have these two back again. If you're considering house cleaning, please consider Sherelle and Missie.

Outstanding work: the carpet looks beautiful! Tough pet and other stains were gone from 3 rooms, a hall, and a stair quickly, and Pablo sanitized the carpet, too. Professional, efficient, and reasonably priced - an excellent job.

We had a dog that was sprayed by a skunk. Although our dog was only in the house for a couple of minutes, our whole house reeked, clothes, carpets, drapes, everything. The technicians came in, set up the machines, and left. They were friendly, compassionate, and professional. The smell was taken care of. When we still detected a scent on a mattress, they came back and redid that room. No questions, no complaints. I recommend this company, not only for their odor removal services but because they were easy to work with and eager to please.

Just simply a class act from beginning to end. Michael and his employees were absolutely everything I could have asked for in a contractor, and the work that was done was top-notch. I had a list of tasks I needed done in my kitchen: a new dishwasher and garbage disposal installed, a stove top removed, a gas line installed, cabinets removed, new gas stove installed, a large section of wood floor repaired, and foyer with 20 ft. ceilings that needed repaired, retaped and painted. I was having a difficult time finding one contractor who was willing to tackle such a wide variety of tasks for a competitive price, and then through Thumbtack, I found Michael Jimenez, who gave me a great quote, was able to do the job in under a week, and the end result was just outstanding. Michael and his crew were punctual, polite, and efficient. Proper care was taken to protect my belongings and everything was returned to its original location upon completion. We have three dogs, which added to the confusion, but Michael and his staff were super good-natured about the pets, were careful not to leave gates or doors open, and worked around 3 very curious and nosy dogs without any issues. The completed project is perfect, my kitchen is exactly as I imagined it, and all thanks to M & M Coating. I encourage you to consider Michael and his team for any home improvement projects you've been considering, you will be glad you did. For an honest, experienced, competitively priced, efficient and professional contractor, look no further than Michael Jimenez and M & M Coating.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is upholstery cleaning?

From your carpets to your drapes to your furniture, all fabrics need to be cleaned. Cleaning upholstery, or the fabric on your furniture, removes the dirt and oils that are transferred to couches and chairs through regular use. Because furniture upholstery can be delicate and colors can fade easily, it’s often a good idea to let professional sofa cleaners handle the job. They’ll determine the type of fabric — usually cotton, linen, wool, suede or microfiber — and the appropriate method for cleaning it, either steam-cleaning or applying a dry-cleaning solvent. In general, cleaning an entire piece of furniture includes a pretreatment, cleaning, and neutralizing rinse to the body, plus removing and cleaning all cushions and cleaning all crevices.

An upholstery cleaner may clean the entire piece of furniture, on a regular schedule or by request, or do spot treatments to remove pet, food, drink, or oil and grease stains. Furniture can also be deodorized to remove the smell of pets or tobacco smoke. Furniture that’s used often, like that in your family room, should be cleaned once a year to keep it fresh and extend its life. Sofa cleaners often also offer repair services to mend tears in fabric or patch holes in leather.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

Who cleans couches?

Even if your furniture doesn’t appear dirty or stained, your couches are collecting just as much dust, pollen, germs, pet hair and dander, and even food crumbs as your carpets. In general, the same professionals who clean your carpets and drapes can also clean your couches. Carpet cleaners usually offer upholstery cleaning services as well, and may offer a discount if you have your carpets cleaned at the same time. Alternatively, you can choose from a range of professional upholstery cleaners in your area who specialize in cleaning different types of upholstery fabrics, including delicate antique fabrics and other hard-to-clean materials such as suede. In addition to deep-cleaning the entire piece of furniture, sofa cleaners can spot-treat food, pet, and oil and grease stains. Most professionals also offer services to sanitize and deodorize your furniture and apply protectants to prevent future stains. As with carpets, experts recommend that you have your upholstered furniture cleaned once every year or two, depending on how much use it gets and whether you have children and pets.
