My fiancé was skeptical about having our engagement pics taken, but after meeting Jason he was so comfortable that I think he enjoyed the engagement pictures session more than myself. Jason is friendly and flexible, not only with creating an affordable package that was within our budget, but also working around our busy schedule.
Our engagement session was simple. We walked around downtown Memphis while he stayed discretely behind capturing those serendipitous moments. He pretty much let us do our own thing and every once in a while he would suggest a pose and then fade into the background. We never felt rushed or uncomfortable and he took great pictures (he let me check them out throughout the shoot to make sure I was happy with the result). The session only took about an hour and half and the pictures came out amazing.
Jason is awesome at what he does. He is a very talented and natural photographer, he is passionate about what he does and you can tell by the quality of his work and the way he engages with you.
I cant wait to have him in our wedding in Mexico next year!

I found Jason on Thumbtack a couple months ago and after a few messages back and forth we decided on a spot to meet up and talk logistics. I don't know how he did it, but Jason was able to wash away every single worry I had about photography on the day of our wedding! He was so professional and organized. The day of our wedding was no different. Jason even showed up early to take the extra venue/dress/getting ready pictures. He was so much fun during the reception, talking with our families etc. I would recommend Jason to my nearest, dearest friends, and I most definitely recommend him to other Thumbtack users!!

My husband and I had a super low-key last minute elopement, but we still wanted to capture our special day. Jason responded promptly and was soooo great the day of our wedding. He was very personable, make good quick judgments about where and when we should go to take some quality photos. On top of that, it was a VERY hot day in July and most of our photos were outside, and he was such a good sport! Would definitely recommend. He also returned our photos to us within a week.

I could not have asked for a better turn out on your wedding photos. We received over 300 pictures and every single one was exactly what he promised. We had a few family posed but most were candid and I love them even more. I was nervous about lighting for no reason. We can’t even tell the room was dark. We had several guests ask about him as he never stopped moving and never stopped shooting. I will definitely be hiring him again for family photos in the future!

Jason of Matt Phoenix Photography is so great! I was looking for an affordable photographer but still wanted high quality photos, and this was perfect. He is flexible with what you want and responds so quick!! Such a genuinely nice guy. I was nervous about our engagementphotos because we're so awkward when we take pictures but he guided us through them and they turned out beautiful! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Instead of having cookie-cutter "packages," I create custom proposals after getting to know the couple well. I also focus on documenting, not only the wedding day, but the days prior, when family and friends get together to celebrate before the wedding.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
During our initial phone call, I listen carefully and ask questions to understand your vision, likes and dislikes, and background. Then I create a custom proposal to make the entire process fit you.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 15 years of experience working with all types of scenarios, lighting conditions, locations, and personalities!
