FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
A standard swedish massage runs about 60 dollars an hour. However, for modified services (deep tissue, prenatal, medical massage) my rate is 75 dollars an hour if the client is in the area and within a short drive. Extra travel time and convenience may alter the price beyond that.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically a new client is someone who seeks out massage or is recommended by physician or perhaps a chiropractor. As a therapist I generally get to know the clients habits and day to day activities to gauge what movements and muscle use might be going on that is causing any problems for the client. A small intake conversation usually gets this job accomplished-very informal. Even if the purpose of the massage is just to relax, everyone has 'problem areas,' so knowing those first hand gives a good goal for the session, as well as knowing any medications or medical conditions that could affect the client to receive massage.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an associates degree in health sciences, completed in 2012. I also went to nursing school for a handful of years before massage therapy found me and I went to school for that instead. Overall my knowledge of human anatomy and medical conditions extends beyond that of the average massage therapist, which helps me in my work.
