What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $15-$20 dollars for a group class and $85.00 dollars for private yoga instruction.
If I go to their home and I bring the yoga props I usually charge extra $25.00 fee.
I'm also very conscious of of the economy situation in our country, so I want everyone to be able to afford to discover the practice of yoga, I run specials often to make the practice of yoga affordable to all, and I try to accommodate all students that truly have a desire to learn and explore this practice of yoga.
I was very blessed when I was first starting to doing yoga, my teachers were very generous and helpful in so many ways. I receive the best education from the world most renowned yoga teacher through out the world.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I think asking the student lots questions about themselves. What activities they do daily? Asking what their daily activities are? What they do professionally? What are the students goals for good fitness including diet? What health issues they may have if any? Asking if they have pass injuries if any? What physical limitations if any? What's happening right now! With their bodies and how they feel emotionally right now?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have traveled to India several times to continue my studies in therapeutic yoga. I continue to work with senior yoga teachers and do workshops specifically for yoga teachers. I continue to be support by my teachers as a yoga student and as yoga teacher myself.
I have studied with many senior well known yoga teachers over the last twenty-seven years. I'm continuing to discover new books, tapes, interviews and articles that discuss and deal with new ways of working with yoga students to keep discovering the practice of yoga.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I guess truly it was my destiny!
I started doing yoga when it wasn't cool and very misunderstood in the south.
I had danced and competed showing horses from a young age, coming from a loving mother and father but their relationship ended when I was very young, which was very hard. So I had many unsettled emotions starting as a young child. I found refuge in animals and plants.
Then in my early twenty's my mother pass away suddenly, and then a life altering car accident.
I was suffering emotionally and physically a co-worker whom became a confident and friend suggested yoga, within week of him sharing this with me I found myself in the loving ,most compassionate, and well educated yoga teacher and other people that were searching for some kind of healing method with non judgmental people.
I found it!!! or it found me!! Thanks be to God.
My yoga practice wasn't always the easiest, I was not the most flexible in body or mind. I was very physically challenged and in emotionally sadden by some of my life situations.
From the maybe the first or second class of yoga a felt something I had never felt to this point of my life an ease in body and mind, in other words my body starting moving and mind didn't have time in a yoga class to worry about this and that, so calmness flowed into me and so do the emotions sometimes in yoga class.
Luckily I had a knowledgeable yoga teacher whom had been a therapist.
My yoga journey began in a safe and beautiful yoga studio, with other like minded students that were on the journey of self discovery. People from all different backgrounds professionals, artist, mothers, fathers, young and older poor and very wealthy.
That's how my journey of yoga began and to this day this moment it is still intrigues, fascinates and is still inviting me see and feel the supports as I continue to discover the many many benefits this an ancient discipline of yoga practice has to offer me.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Teaching techniques for centered breathing for people that are suffering or dealing with stress in their daily life, anxiety, depression and sleeping problems.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
This project that I'm previously doing with these young soccer players.
This school isn't all about sports it is a very well know boys school with emphasis on academics coming first.
I can't explain in words all the shifts that are happening and being demonstrating. How they are putting their yoga practice into action in their soccer games and their studies.
This year I was at one of the their soccer games and the scores were close and the weather was rainy and cold.
I could see the team,bumping-up against fatigue and tightness. Some players more than others were just simply wanting to give up.
As loud as I could yelling saying just BREATHE!! I noticed a time out and one of the Senior soccer player I have had for a couple of years started doing a yoga right there on the field and then encouraging the other soccer players to do a yoga pose and focus on their breathing.
The yoga give them a few seconds to regroup and get recharged before they were back to playing. I saw their energy shift and they mustard-up the energy to win the game!
One thing that brought tears of joy to my eyes was after the game, the hole team went through a sequence of yoga recover poses, they all did in in sync with one another.
I could not of been more proud of Davis for leading his team so beautiful through the yoga poses and doing the poses in prefect sequence!
The next day, I had them for yoga class, the team begged for restorative practice with center breathing technics I use.
I use a lots of blankets, bolsters, and eye bag and head wraps with the use or essential oils in the eye bags so they can relax completely, and allow the body and mind to renew and recharge.
Yoga does works!!
These are young smart men that one day will lead this country into a better way life....this project is on going! How long does it take? For some only a couple classes others time will tell.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Meet the yoga teacher, spend some time with that teacher, ask lots of questions.
I always think an excellent way is a private yoga session. It's a great way to get to know the teacher and allow the teacher to get to know the students particular needs and goals, win win situation.
Do you feel and see their passion as a teacher to share this practice of yoga?
