About this pro
This was my second experience in hiring a professional on Thumbtack, and unfortunately I do not believe that I could legitimately describe the work done as anything resembling a "professional" job. Mr Getz appears to have a few good reviews which led me to believe that my property would be in good hands, but after my experience with him and his crew I seriously doubt the authenticity of his previous reviews. Prehaps they are friends or possibly individuals accustomed to shoddy work? Regardless, I originally hired him to complete an interior painting job and some minor trim work as well as hanging shades/blinds in a property I purchased last fall. I paid him the amount we agreed on and although I could not be physically present for the job (I was gone for business) he promised he could effectively communicate with me during the project. Shortly after sending the first portion of funds he began working on the house, sending me a few pictures here and there. A few days later he contacted me and said that I apparently had water damage in one of the bathrooms, he offered to replace the flooring in the bathroom and tile it for an additional price which I agreed upon. Communication was somewhat sporadic and the project ended up dragging on for almost another month or so, there was multiple times when he claimed to be finished, I would send a friend to inspect and the opposite was found to be true, this cycle happened at least 3 times. During the project, water or paint damage happened to the floors which I had just recently paid a substantial amount of money to have refinished. Of course he claimed no fault and said it was because they were not treated correctly. After I came back to the property I discovered in a conversation with his "crew" that they tried cleaning up a "mess" using peroxide. This resulted in me spending an additional $2,000 to refinish the floors yet again. After I returned to the property and looked at everything, I saw that the job was basically botched from the beginning. Paint was slapped on in the wrong areas, lines were not cut properly, the tile work was sloppy, door knobs completely painted over, ect. Not to mention that they did not finish the bathroom remodel, the blinds were not even set up or the materials during the remodel project disposed of properly. They merely dumped all the old flooring and refuse in the recycling bin and left it out on the street, which the city obviously refused to pick up. Bottom line is that they had an inordinate amount of time to do a very simple job and they proceeded to do a horrible, sloppy and completely unprofessional performance. I would not recommend this outfit for anything and I am completely unhappy with the level of demonstrated "workmanship" portrayed by this contractor and his crew. Now I have to spend MORE money to go back and redo the work which he originally was supposed to complete.Jan 20, 2017Verified
Mr Getz came several months after our initial contact due to my work schedule. Because it was several months he did not remember our agreement or conversation or his bid. The work or pulling out the plants was fine, but the preparation of the bed for new plants was lax. He did come and do the job for the agreed price, but because the job was not completed to the agreed standard, I will not be using him again. He also did not come with all the equipment needed and took my shovel. He did say he would send a check to replace it, but it has been nearly a month and I have received no compensation.May 31, 2016Verified
Ben was fantastic! Worked very quickly and very professional. I plan to have him come paint more for me soon. He painted our living room, dining room, and kitchen walls and ceilings. He was done in only a few hours and it looks fantastic! He also had some recommendations for me on landscaping that I would like to save up to implement. :)Nov 3, 2015VerifiedBen G.'s reply
I'm looking forward to the opportunity to come back and finishing the rest of your paint project, as well as start planning your landscape design! I look forward to hearing from you again soon!

The house looked fantastic. He had said he would wipe 5 Windows on second floor. That did not happen. I personally think he should have rinsed off decks but he didn't do that voluntarily. I would ask for that next time.Oct 20, 2015Verified

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? The first thing is to get on the same page with the client. Quickly learn their personality and needs. Show them that we understand their needs and prove that we're the best choice for their solution.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?As a teenager, I started Landscape design education. My family had a cleaning and remodeling business that I also worked for. I learned a lot over many years, did a lot if this type of work on the side and have managed a number of businesses. Creating this company and hiring proven, skilled tradesmen to work along side of me has been even more of a learning experience in areas I had not touched.
- What types of customers have you worked with?I have worked with every type of customer imaginable. From low budget to millionaires, easy and flexible to difficult and picky. People are how they are, and they know what they like and want, bottom line. If they're paying for it, they should get it.
