FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I worked as in steel fabrication first half of my life. It was college when I started in construction, and that’s what I’ve been doing for the past 25 years. My construction experience is mostly as a finish carpenter, I like it because of the attention to detail. Also, as a tile setter. Setting ceramic tile natural stones is my favorite thing to do even though it’s so much work. I love the finish product. I have quite a few years as a framer; worked in the carpenters union a couple of years. Hung a lot of sheetrock and have a couple of years mudding and painting . This is why I love remodeling bathrooms; it’s because it encompasses all these different aspects of construction, and gives me the opportunity to share with my customer things I show talent in and have years of experience doing.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
My favorite projects are luxury bathrooms. I like setting a lot of tile especially marble. I enjoy building my own bath pans and inset soap dishes , then covering them with mosaic tile. Under floor electric heating is very, very nice. It also helps to dry out high moisture bathrooms. I take moisture in the bathroom very seriously. I use high quality bathroom fans that are quite and efficient. The vanities manufacture come out with seem to get more beautiful every year with all the new vassals and bowls with cultured/marble tops and unique faucets. I like to improve lighting to minimize shadowing. As far as the amount of time it takes to remodel a bathroom. A typical bathroom will generally take around 7 days to complete. Of course larger luxury bathrooms will take longer. It’s been my experience that if you constantly show progress every day. The customer appreciates the time and care that is put into the project.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
My advice is to always get a couple of estimates , and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Communication is paramount. You need someone who will listen to what you want and will help advice you through the project ; meeting your needs while working within your budget.
