About this pro

How does your business stand out?

I work with Clients holistically, meaning I deal with the entire person not just their clutter. Most clutter is a result of "other things", as you begin to clear the clutter you begin to unveil those things. We help our Clients deal with the clutter and "these things" with our Professional Organizing and Project Management skills and Happiness Coaching in a systematic and compassionate way.

What do you enjoy about the work you do?

There are so many things I love about my job. Bringing order to chaos is so much fun, but what I love more than anything is helping people blossom into the who God made them to be. When you see the light bulb go off during a decluttering session, because your Client gets it and then you see the joy come over their face as they realize it is possible as they see their room coming together, there is nothing like it. I also love helping both the young and the more seasoned Clients, because everyone needs help from time to time at their own pace.

Dana with her Mom became acutely aware of hoarding tendencies, disarray of closets and drawers, accumulated piles in my garage, and rooms that had been neglected for too many years. Gently Dana offered to assist me in making dramatic room changes and how to let go of piles of accumulation. We started with my laundry room (upon my request) where she and her mom emptied out the room. She had me fill out a form from The Happiness Bucket that focused my attention on how I envisioned the room. Never once did she demand what I should do. But directions were clear and concise that by following all the guidelines I would have a fresh, clutter free, and organized room. She subtly suggested artful and functional containers, guided my paint color options, and as a result I have a very lovely room! As the changes occurred she also took upon herself to replace an across the room shelf on one wall to take away a warp from the former too small shelf. I had just become a widow and was spending most of my time out of the state caring for a new grandchild, and Dana often had the work done while I was away. I always couldn't wait to return home to see what surprise had unfolded for me in my room's transformation. Today I have a gorgeous room that my friends say to leave the laundry door open to show off the pretty room. Being very pleased, I asked Dana to take on my bonus room that I wished to convert into an art room/craft studio. Following the same questionnaire/guidelines as before; the room was totally emptied; discards proceeded; grouping of supplies and materials occurred; and a search for the pieces of furniture I needed began. She sent me to Home Depot and Lowes while she checked out other retailers for flooring samples. I had 20 year old stained carpeting removed and discarded; Dana lined up a painter for the room (after guiding me through the selection). Furniture arrived unassembled (storage cabinets, a craft table, a large flat file, and a "hidden" desk). After a few days she and her husband had assembled all the furniture. The transformation is stunning! Visitors to my workspace are amazed! It's beautiful and functional. My room "calls" to me to enter and be creative! If there was a problem, Dana always had a solution. After opening the box to assemble my craft table, Dana felt the top of the table was unacceptable because a portion was marred. She made contact with the company and they immediately sent a new top. She was proactive in informing me of a very good floorer who wasn't bonded. I agreed to go with him and even though Dana lives 45 min. or so from my house, she and her toddler stayed at my house while my new floor was being installed. I had to leave the state to continue childcare for my grandson. Because of Dana's commitment to my rooms, I was inspired to take on another room all by myself. It too is complete and lovely. She inspired me to contact a tiler who in a couple of weeks is to remove all bathroom carpet and replace with ceramic tile. He is to remove dated wallpaper too. When years pass and excuses become commonplace a kind of paralysis to change sets in. But I am happy and proud to say that Dana has broken that paralysis and has kindly and graciously led me to beautiful transformations that I could not have envisioned for myself. Dana suggested from the beginning that she would tackle my garage, but she so generously refocused her expertise on my interior rooms per my request first. Hopefully this fall we can begin on my garage. Dana is a working woman and I have been impressed as to how she has the time or can sustain her interests in my house! But she follows through everything she starts to its finality. I have never sensed any loss of interest either in the process of these major changes for my house. My report my be lengthy but it is my way of recommending Dana, her charm, her guidance, to take on a project and seeing it through completion. She has talent, foresight, and resources for completing home transformations. Pictures are helpful of the befores and afters, but living in the "afters" is a joy!

Pantry, closet, kitchen, office spaces and children's rooms
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I would say the space previously mentioned regarding the widow. That one was definitely gratifying and she was so overjoyed with her space that she began telling all of her friends...which motivated one of her friends and her husband, in a different state, to tackle a project they had needed to do for 15 years.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Just do it, invest in yourself, your home and your family.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
That I am a very compassionate person and I treat all people with respect no matter their circumstance. All people have some form of clutter in their lives and there is nothing anyone has to feel embarrassed about. The key, is you are taking a step today and making the choice and commitment to change your circumstance.
