FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
If a project scope is clearly defined, I can quote a fixed fee. If the project is more open ended and/or ongoing, I bill hourly.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If this were a residential interior design project, we would start with an initial consultation to discuss the scope of work and the client's needs. Then I would describe the best approach to designing the particular space and give a cost proposal for design services. Once we have agreed upon the terms, budget and timeline, I would begin with developing a concept and an initial floor plan with story boards. We would meet again to review the general direction, makes changes as necessary and from there I can select all furniture items. If needed, I can purchase them for the owner if desired and install all of the items so the client can have a total turnkey experience. As always, client feedback is essential throughout the process and I would keep the lines of communication open and give regular status updates. When I design custom cabinetry, I develop construction drawings and preferably to have a meeting with the builder and the client. This will help to ensure the finish product meets the design intent.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a licensed architect in Virginia and also have a National Council of Architectural Registration Boards certification.
