Last time I heard Phil DJ was at an awesome house party on Halloween and he absolutely crushed it! From hip-hop to funk to disco and italo and even into house and techno, this guy crushed it! Tempo changes, good blends and all! Oh and he plays vinyl. Phil worked at SF record shop Vinyl Dreams for quite some time and would be a hell of a booking for anyone who knows what's up.Apr 10, 2018
He did a great job playing music at our wedding reception! He was very willing to play any requests that guests had.Jun 25, 2019Verified
Phil just DJed my wedding, and my wife and I couldn’t be happier with the job he did. He has an extensive playlist, listened to all of our requests and was an exceptional expeditor of our event. All our guests really enjoyed the experience. Thank you Phil, for all your help.Mar 4, 2019Verified
He did a great job and made my daughter’s wedding memorableJun 13, 2019Verified
I hired Phillip for a an exclusive business event and gave him full control over the music choices. Not only was he prompt and professional, he truly had a intuitive talent for selecting the right music for the crowd. Much of his music came from his own personal collection - new and fresh and fit the mood perfectly. It really helped set the tone for a wonderful evening. Very impressive- I Highly recommend!!Jul 20, 2018
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I arrive two hours before I have to play any music and you do not pay for set-up or take-down time. I require a signed contract for bookings with a $150 non-refundable deposit. For events that are more than 60 miles from my home in Northwest Austin, I charge a $50 travel fee. My pricing includes*: A P.A. (Two Turbosound Milan M-15s) A secondary P.A. (for weddings only) Two turntables (Technics 1200s) A DJ mixer One crate full of 12"s and LPs and one case of 45's (**read below if you'd like for me to bring more) Serato (for DJing with digital music files) Two laptop computers (one as a back-up) Microphones: One corded microphone, one wireless handheld microphone, and one lapel microphone (for weddings only) Two dancefloor lights on a lighting tree * There are not any additional fees for gear unless you need something that I typically don't provide like karaoke, uplighting, or a fog machine. ** If you want a "vinyl bar," where I bring an additional bin and a half of records and invite party guests to look through them and make requests, it's an additional $150. I always bring some records to my gigs, I just don't always run a vinyl bar.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? When I am contacted by a new customer, I will schedule a phone call or in-person meeting to discuss the event organizer's needs, tastes, and logistics. I require a signed contract and non-refundable $150 deposit for any event I am hired to perform at. After a contract has been signed, I'll send the client a music request checklist, which serves as my guide for what music I should play (and what not to play) at the event. Clients can also send Spotify or YouTube playlists. In preparation for each event, I acquire and organize the requested music from the checklist (if I don't already have it) and, while I'm DJing an event, I stick closely to the music that the client has requested. Contracted clients can always contact me by phone, text, or e-mail and I like to schedule "week-of" phone calls to go over an event's timeline and music selections.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've been DJing parties for 14 years. I've played at least 30 weddings, multiple clubs in Austin and The Bay Area, school functions, fundraisers, house parties, dorm parties, retirement parties, birthday parties, and more. I'm a current resident at Plush nightclub (third Sundays) and I contributed equipment and marketed the BYOV events at The Buzz Mill. I also accept DJ gigs from several other event companies in Austin and one venue.
