FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
When people say "1-5" images needed, I will often bid the shoot at 2 images but offer an add-on pricing for additional images. So they get the session at the bid price with 2 images, and for a little more they can get more edited images from the same session. It's a bargain for them! It helps if people can be specific about how many people are in a shoot, how many final images instead of a range, and what their product is. The more info the more accurate the bid!! I also try to bid at a flat rate rather than an hourly rate; there's a lot of reasons for this.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly studying and learning and improving. I read books, watch videos, interact in photo forums, and practice every week, even trying new things. I'm always looking for ways to keep my images current, innovative, and exciting. People don't want images that look like they were shot in the 90's, and neither do I.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got into photography for enjoyment. I got into headshots and portraits because I love photographing people (and animals!), and because an acting coach and actor thought I would be good at it (he now says I'm the best). Love it!!! I got into commercial photography because I simply love photographing a variety of things.
