FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I feel like photography is all about expression, so when I work with someone who I am going to be taking a photograph of I always make sure to try and get a feel for who they are. I feel like the best way to capture someone's true essence is to make sure they feel completely comfortable so I like to take a more candid approach during a shoot. I will have the subject get into a pose or position that is comfortable for them and then make small adjustments from there and mix in my own sense of humor with their stories and interactions to create shots that feel more natural.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As stated previously I took a class in high school, which is what originally turned me on to photography. Since then I have bounced around YouTube soaking up tutorials and honing new skills. Recently I completed a course through an online photography school that paid dividends in helping me improve my skill and comfort with my camera.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Throughout middle and high school I took a stab at a few different types of art forms including band and art, but it wasn't until I enrolled in a photo journalism class my junior year that I found a medium that I was comfortable with and had a knack for. The year after I took over as the photo editor of our yearbook and fell in love with photography. When I left high school, I always carried a camera but I kind of fell of from actually doing photography until my junior year of college. On a random road trip with a couple of friends we did an impromptu "photo shoot" and I realized how much I missed photography. I have been re-learning and learning new techniques and skills ever since.
