Introduction: I really do my best to focus on making the shoot fit the client instead of trying to force the client to fit into my style of photography. I love getting to know the client's personality and then adapting the shoot to better fit their needs. In the end, that will always be more satisfying to the client. My favorite part of my job is the transformation I get to witness as the shoot progresses. Often its a little awkward; people are unsure. They don't know me, don't know how to stand, don't know if they look good, etc. As we continue though, and everyone loosens up and I start to get to know the client better, a rhythm starts to form. Its different with every client, but it is equally as rewarding. Before you know it, the shoot is over, and the client actually enjoyed having themselves photographed.

Anna did a boudoir shoot for me back in October. We did the shoot in my apartment where we thought the lighting would be good, however, she did offer me several other venues. I was most impressed with Anna's ability to bring me out of my shell in order to showcase my best features. Throughout the shoot she would show me what I thought were some of the best pictures as a kind of confidence boost. We started with me doing some poses that felt natural and as the shoot progressed, she started to give me direction and brought in props, lighting, etc. to give us more options. After the shoot was over, Anna and I meticulously went through every photo, choosing which ones she would edit. I received a CD of all the photos from that day.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

The best advice I have is to be completely upfront about what you are looking for and what you are hoping to get out of the experience. Understanding that both parties are going to be coming to the table with ideas is important, but it is equally important that the client feels heard.
