About
I have earned Registered Piano Technician status with the Piano Technicians Guild. RPTs are professionals who have committed themselves to the continual pursuit of excellence, both in technical service and ethical conduct. The Piano Technicians Guild grants the Registered Piano Technician (RPT) credential after a series of rigorous examinations that test skill in piano tuning, regulation and repair. Those capable of performing these tasks up to a recognized worldwide standard receive the RPT credential.
My experience includes working for Steinway & Sons in Both Dallas and Houston and tuning for piano faculty at SMU Meadows School Of Music. I have also done work for concert venues including the Moody Performance Hall, Dallas Theatre Center and the Majestic Theatre. In addition I have earned certification with the Precision Touch Design Academy of Europe in Frankfurt, Germany for piano touch-weight analysis and design.
Passion, precision and professionalism are what I strive for with every single piano. I love helping people get the most out of their piano playing or listening experience.

Stairway Pianos have been the best piano movers we have ever used. We have had to move our baby grand 3 times, and this was the easiest and smoothest by far. These gentlemen are very professional and know what they are doing. Moving a piano can be stressful, but I felt confident from the very beginning that our piano was in good hands. I highly recommend them!
Details: Baby grand • No change in floors to load the piano • No change in floors to unload the piano • 31 - 50 miles

My piano hadn't been tuned for quite a while and Lucas took a couple of hours to get it back in working order. He also took time to reinstall and glue a small piece of wood that had come off of one part of the instrument. Lucas was very nice, didn't seem hurried at all and I would recommend him highly.
Details: Upright • Last piano tuning more than 2 years ago • Piano played at least once a week • 6 - 10 years old

He was awesome. He made time very quickly to come help, tuned the piano excellently and also fixed some keys that were stuck. This was during the pandemic as well and he took many precautions to keep things safe and reduce spreading any germs. Terrific job!

Lucas was outstanding in his attention to detail, he quickly determined the issues I was having with the sustain pedal and went the extra mile to repair it in his workshop and install it the same day AND tune the piano.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
While being serviced almost every piano needs some additional adjustment beyond just tuning. I will always try and resolve these small issues during the tuning. I will not charge for this additional work if it takes less than 20 minutes.
If the piano has not been tuned in a long time it may require a pitch raise. In this case the total for a pitch raise plus tuning is $200.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I alway try and get to know my new customers. I want to find out how they use their piano and what they would like to get from the instrument. This can help me make recommendations that will really help them enjoy their piano playing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied at The Chicago School For Piano Technology before starting my tuning business. I am also a member of The Piano Technicians Guild and have earned RPT status. This means that I have passed a comprehensive series of exams in piano technology theory, tuning and repair.
