This was definitely bad business! Oscar stopped by our home this afternoon and our conversation was extremely pleasant. We discussed a price for the small, concrete paver walkway project and Oscar suggested a price of $1200. I, then countered with $1000 for the project, however, we both agreed and decided to meet in the middle at a final price of $1100. We shook as gentlemen on the agreement, reiterated the negotiated price and scheduled the project to start up at 8 AM tomorrow morning (Feb 16,2022. Oscar even drew up a sketch for the project, contacted a worker of his from his cell phone and advised him that they had a project that would begin tomorrow as well!. I advised him to send me something formal from his company since I’d be paying in cash and he stated that his wife was the secretary and would do so by the end of the day. While Oscar was at my property, I also called the two other solicitors for the project and advised them that someone won the bid and that I had made my final selection on a contractor… and that their services would not be needed. Fours later, I received a text from Oscar’s wife stating that he will not do the project for the agreed-upon price, but is willing to do it if I agreed on paying $400 more than what we agreed upon! Oscar never called me himself to discuss the break in his agreement, but was satisfied with his wife/secretary only sending a text. The reason why I contacted Oscar was because of his good thumbtack rating! Not good business ethics sir!!!!

Hello Dr Ifeanyi, I am sorry for how you feel about the cancellation of the project. After consideration and calculation of the material and time for the project, we had come to realize the price you had suggested in the beginning would not be able to cover the costs for this project. I hope you understand, and we hope you are able to find someone willing and able to do this project within your budget. Unfortunately for us, it would be the initial asking price. Thank you again for your feedback, and we wish you the best!
