K and D planted flower beds for me with plants that could survive the Texas heat and cold. They also removed small oak leaves from my lawn--at least 6 bags full. They took the waste with them. The work was completed Friday, August 12. They are currently running a soil sample on my lawn.

Kevin and his team at K.D's Lawn Care and Landscaping did an excellent job on my flower bed in my front yard. They raised my flower bed, added shrubs, flowers, and mulch. The look from the street is amazing. I'm very pleased with the work they did. They cleaned up and left the front of my house in better shape than when they arrived. I would highly recommend this company.

I am all for paying fairly for good work. Kevin “incorrectly bid” for 3 guys @ $120/hour ($40/hour) then proceeded to try to charge me $75/hour for 1 guy for a few hours added at the end (which also charged me 3 hours to plant 2 roses I already had and lay 5 pieces of flagstone and 1 bucket of granite…..?). Argued with me over and over when the bid was black and white. It came down to his guys wasted 6+ hours doing work so poorly that it basically all had to be redone. Absolutely awful, sloppy work, including putting mud and rock 6” up my brand new fence in a side bed. Kevin made the work right, but tried to recoup money lost by passing the cost to the client. Oh, also told me he’s charged sales tax on labor which was hard to believe to begin with and also seemed to be false in the bit of Google research I did. Just be honest, transparent.

You are correct about the work performed the first time, it did not stand up to my own satisfactory which is why I came back on my own time on Sunday to make it right. I did not charge for that time. KD's charges 60.00/hr per man hour when I send out a crew. I sent three guys and charged for two which is why it was only 120.00/hr and not 180.00/hr. When finished with the rework I personally did, you said you were satisfied with the solution I came up with then asked me to come out and do more work and that's when I charged you 60.00/hr. I apologize that the satisfaction was not there, and I have taken measures to fix the quality of work that was performed that day because KD's Lawn Care & Landscaping takes pride in our work and will fix anything that's not satisfied. I looked up the tax laws (again) on Texas state comptroller and this is what it said about charging taxes. Taxable and Non-Taxable Services: Any individual or business that offers landscaping, lawn, or plant care services in Texas must collect sales and use tax. This applies to all activities that maintain or enhance lawns, gardens, ornamental plants, and trees.

The project sat undone for awhile. Kevin came in with great suggestions and was able to complete the project quickly after lunch ok’ing at it. He did not cut corners on prepping the area which I appreciate although it cost a bit more than I initially expected. The finished product and additional work he and his crew did made a big difference in completing the project and updating other areas of landscaping in my yard .

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don't have a set markup on materials, and you will get two men for the price of one.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After the first phone conversation I will meet them at their property to talk about what they want done as far as landscaping. Once we both are on the same page, I will get measurements to take with me so I can make a materials list. I will then present the customer with an estimate via email, and follow up with a courtesy call. If its a mow, Ill get the address and look up on google maps and give them a quote over the phone.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in communications, but a lifetime of experience in landscaping. I've always done landscaping as a boy growing up or as a homeowner, Its been a passion of mine my entire life.
