I worked with Jay in a couple different bars - he was always speedy, friendly and knowledgeable about even the latest drinks. Tell him the color and smell of a drink and he can match it. Jay is the one who taught me to bartend - excellent teacher with tons of patience plus he gave me the confidence to soar behind the bar.

So, even though we confirmed the details a day or two before the party he was late and got the time confused. He said he would show up at 4, but I had to call him around 4:30 to see where he was. I first called from my cell phone, which he would recognize and he didn't answer. When I called from my home phone he answered then. So I wasn't sure if he was coming after that. When we finally spoke, he said he thought it started at 6:00. I told him no and that all the details were confirmed in my text to him and I was quite annoyed. He apologized and showed up around 5:45PM. He was wearing a black shirt unbuttoned when I informed him a white shirt with black pants. So his attire was not crisp. Although I told him the party was casual, I asked for him to wear a white shirt, but he didn't. His bartending was good and kept my guests drinks filled and was able to respond to drink requests. So I was happy there. He wanted to help with the food and trash but I hired him for only bartending, so that was awkward. I tried to be polite and let him know that he should just be the bartender, which was what I hired him for. So out of 5 stars I'd give him almost a 2.5 for overall professionalism, tardiness and not proper attire. But a 4 for bartending.

Jay did an excellent job for the Lewisville Lions Club's fundraising event. He arrived early, well dressed (in a tux including our choice of either a black or a brightly patterned tie), and ready to work! He started right in setting out napkins and cups, checking where the inventory was, and familiarizing himself with the venue. This guy is a go getter and when times at the bar were slow, he stepped in to bus tables and make our guests comfortable. I would highly recommend Jay to anyone looking for a hard-working, friendly addition to their party or event. Ours was a beer and wine only situation, but he brought along his tools of the trade anyway, just in case!
