The crew SMA sent to my home to do the install was very nice and knowledgeable - two young guys who were very respectful. Unfortunately, they brought the wrong piece of equipment (and didn't realize it) and so the installation took an entire day (7 hours). Also, my house was pre-wired so the installation was supposed to be super easy and not require any additional wire. However, becuase they brought the DVR it appeared to them as though my wires were faulty (even though we told them that our wiring was less than a year old and could not possibly be the problem) - so they installed all new wiring only to figure out (after they had done it all and the DVR still didn't work) that they had brought the wrong DVR. Obviously, none of this was my fault, but I was still required to pay more than the price I was quoted (which was based on me having all my own wiring - which I did). That greatly disappointed me. With that said, SMA installed a great product for me that works well. And, when I have had a couple of issues (minor) the owner is very responsive in getting back with me to help me figure out the problem.May 16, 2017Verified
Jacob and Kean did a great job installing cameras on our home, and navigating wires through our attic I'm one day. Cameras are small and inconspicuous and made us feel secure. Thank you!Oct 18, 2016Verified
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?Make sure they are licensed and insured. Would you let any random person do your dental work or perform an operation on you? Please don't trust the security of you family and home to just anyone. A licensed installer has been vetted by the state of Texas to assure they are not criminals and have adequate training and experience to install your security system.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project? Are you licensed and insured? Although there are many people offering surveillance systems/installations, most of them are not licensed or insured. This puts customers at unnecessary risks, as licensed installers are vetted through the state. Here at Surveillance Made Affordable, all of our technicians are licensed and insured by the Texas Private Security Bureau (B18722) for your protection. What brand of equipment do you install? Many individuals and companies available today use cheap Costco or SamsClub equipment; ie. Lorex, Swann, Qsee, Zmodo, Funflux, ect. These brands, while inexpensive, are poorly made and cheap. Good luck getting 1 to 2 years of use before having many failures. At Surveillance Made Affordable, we use commercial grade equipment that is built to last. You can reasonably expect 5 to 7 years or more of problem free security.
