I’d never used the Thumbtack app before, so I was a bit worried about seeking a DJ for my vow renewal. My husband and I had a initially had a different DJ lined up but that fell through because I didn’t like the lack of communication between parties. However, I found Darwin on Thumbtack and reward over his reviews, and I was starting to feel better about getting him for our event. And I am soooo happy I did. We had a ball. Not only was his music selections great but he was patient with me. Before he did the events, I told him that I’d never had a DJ before and I didn’t really know what to expect or do to help the process go along. He was very open and gave me insight without making me feel like I was dumb for not knowing (hope that makes sense). I wanted clean music only because I had children and older people at my event, but every now and then a song came on that had too much cursing, too much “bleeping/fading out”, or was too raunchy. BUT, Darwin quickly adjusted the music while maintaining the atmosphere. We had an unexpected hospitalization which eventually lead to a death in the family of someone who was supposed to be at our renewal, so a lot of people couldn’t come who were coming, but we still decided to go along with the event. It helped to be able to enjoy family and remember that life is too short to be worried about the next thing sure to come. Darwin’s music ear and ability to read the room really helped our family remember the importance of life, love, happiness and living in the moment. And for that we are grateful. We’ll definitely be using him again in the future without question. Don’t second guess this guy. 👏🏽👍🏽

What a hit DJ Darwin was at my party! I had a 90s theme party and he played the old with the new and mixed it very well! He also played other genres of music and all my friends were just out there non stop dancing! Very cool guy! I got alot of compliments for the awesome DJ! Thanks Darwin definetly will hire again for future parties!

He was the DJ at my daughter's sweet 16 and he did an AMAZING job. He arrived on time and was well mannered. The music was the perfect volume, thankfully because the party was at our home. The lights he provided perfectly lit the dance floor. On top of that the music was perfect and he respected my wish that the music was clean. I typically DJ for 90/hr. PRICING IS ALWAYS NEGOTIABLE.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Fast and easy. I already have files set up with different types of music in them such as pop, old hip hop, new hip hop, zydeco, r&b and soul, and line dancing songs. I would communicate with my customer to see which type of music they would want to listen to and build a playlist for there event so everything is organized and ready for play the day of the event
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've shadowed numerous Dj's, hosted a lot of different types partiesand events, and also worked with many different ethnicities.
