The Art of S.L. Kostura

Introduction: I am a Houston-based artist specializing in portraiture. I will work from your photos to determine the composition that will best capture the spirit and personality of your loved one or pet. I am a member of the American Society of Portrait artists (ASOPA), the Portrait Society of America (PSA), The Lone Star Art Guild, and am currently an active member in the NWAL. My achievements include numerous purchase awards and first place awards, with recent 1st Place awards in the Prismacolor National Art Competition and the NWAL. My work has been seen in The Artist Magazine and The Illustrator Magazine. My portraits are done primarily in pastel and colored pencil, my favorite mixed media, as I am able to develop more precise details and sharpness unattainable through other mediums. I especially love depicting children with animals, and enjoy drawing Western themes - I guess it's because I'm a native Houstonian and love Texas!
