FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For people who come to my studio the price is $200 for a 30 minute photo shoot. You leave with the flash drive copyright released them with all your images on it. This is my main gig. Outdoor photography is more expensive because I am unable to shoot as many clients in one day as I would be if we were in the studio shooting one family every 30 minutes. Outdoor shots are generally $300-$500. Corporate head shots under 40 people generally cost $1500. Weddings are generally $3000 and include a bridal session and up to nine hours of photography with two photographers.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a tech geek so yes I do stay up on the latest trends. I also attend workshops and occasionally teach a few here and there.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Ansell Adams was my original inspiration for photography. After starting school and taking his class specifically I found myself alone in Yosemite, just me and my camera. There was a lot of waiting by myself with nothing to do but look at the birds and bees. It was then that I realized I was a people person, I enjoyed the presence of people around me and landscape photography was not for me anymore. I completed my degree in commercial/advertising photography which covers people and products of all sorts. After school I went to New York, and got very lucky to work with the highest quality magazines. After 10 years I wanted to be back home with friends and family. My next move was to find a way to make a living in a city that has few magazines. That's when I found my studio and created my new concept called The Photo Shop.
