About
I help singers unlock their innate talent by releasing self-conscious control and fear of mistakes, trusting instincts so their voice can respond freely. For over 20 years in Houston, I’ve taught pre-college, collegiate, and adult singers, using Meisner acting principles, performance psychology, and expert technique to guide authentic impulse, playful exploration, and risk-taking. When singers relax and realize their worth isn’t tied to performance, refined vocal shaping can transform them, like a sculptor working with responsive clay. My students have won Metropolitan Opera Laffont awards, NATS competitions, and earned admission and scholarships to Curtis Institute, Manhattan School of Music, New England Conservatory, UT Austin, and UNT. Private lesson rates: $90 (45 minutes) | $120 (60 minutes). In-person in Houston or online.

I wa always iterated in singing, but never really had the confidence to really give it a shot. Id hum in the shower, but my voice and its capabilities were still unknown to me.I began lessons with Zach, and we started to make quick progress. Zach keeps an open environment where we can examine all aspects of vocal performance. This has allowed me the free space I needed to really open up and develop as a performer. Now I confidently call myself a singer. I used to shy away when it was karaoke time, and these days I find myself giddy with excitement to share my love of the voice with others.Zach is a fantastic vocal performance teacher.
Dr. Zachary Bruton Voice Studios's reply
This is exactly why I teach. Seeing someone move from curiosity and hesitation to confidently calling themselves a singer is powerful. I’m grateful you trusted the process—and yourself.

Dr. Bruton is an amazing voice teacher. You can tell he has a passion for molding great singers and performers. Even when I was being difficult and gave up on myself, he never gave up on me and kept pushing me to improve and reach my full potential. I went from being stiff and quiet to owning the stage. You wont regret signing up for his studio.
Dr. Zachary Bruton Voice Studios's reply
Brandon, I appreciate this more than you know. Growth often happens right after the moment someone wants to give up—and you pushed through. Watching you own the stage was a joy.

Dr. Bruton is an amazing voice instructor! I took lessons with him for two years, and he dramatically improved my singing. He helped me overcome my self-consciousness and allowed me to project my voice with strong breath support. He also ingrained in me how singing is not just vocalization---it is actually storytelling. Through Dr. Bruton, I learned to create narratives, embody characters, and express emotions through song. I would recommend him to anyone who is pursuing voice!
Dr. Zachary Bruton Voice Studios's reply
Jade, thank you so much for this. Watching you grow over those two years was incredibly rewarding. Singing really is storytelling, and you learned how to trust your voice enough to let that come through. I’m proud of the singer you’ve become, and I’m grateful I got to be part of that journey.

Ive worked with several vocal coaches over the years, but this is the first time Ive truly developed healthy, sustainable vocal habits that actually elevated my singing. The focus on proper technique, airflow, and vocal health completely changed the way I approach singing. My range, control, and consistency improved without strain. Highly recommend to anyone serious about singing long-term at a high level.
Dr. Zachary Bruton Voice Studios's reply
Thank you, Xander. Healthy, sustainable technique is everything—especially if you want to sing at a high level long-term. I’m glad the work helped your range, control, and consistency without strain.

Zach's instruction is both transformative and liberating (vocally and personally), and it has all-around been an unexpected godsend for me and my voice. He's also patient, and sincerely wants his students to succeed. I'm grateful I found him.
Dr. Zachary Bruton Voice Studios's reply
Thank you for such thoughtful words. Helping singers feel free—vocally and personally—is at the core of my work, so this means a lot. I’m really glad you found your way to the studio.
