Derek trained me as part of large group (our Gaelic Football team) but he always made a point of giving us individualized attention when needed. Derek is an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, compassionate and relentlessly positive trainer, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Chris helped me rehab my injuries (back & knee), strength train and adjust my nutrition while living in Austin, TX. Over a four-month program I saw amazing results in my abdomen and arms and no longer had back or knee pain. Chris was the first trainer that actually listened to what my concerns were and was the first trainer to work on my left side and my right side separately. He explains things clearly and provided excellent advice over nutrition and equipment. I especially liked the muscle manipulation prep work required before my work out, it made sense and really helped with cramping and lactic acid build up. He is always on time and provided above-expected results. He made me feel like he knew my body better than I did. I didnt feel like a number although he was at a big box gym. I enjoyed working with him, especially the way he pushed me past my whiny point. He doesnt accept no for an answer. I will continue to use Chris and recommend him 100%.
I have been a client of Chad Humphrey Fitness for almost 3 years. Chad is a wonderful trainer! He is patient in explaining and demonstrating exercises. He cares about helping his clients reach their fitness goals in a welcoming, fun, and friendly environment. I was able to reach my weight loss goals, and he gave me lots of info and help on eating better and maintaining good nutrition. The environment of his gym, is much more welcoming than almost any Crossfit "box" I've ever been to. There's no ego, and everyone is super friendly! He even has a free 7 day trial for you to go and check him out! Do it!!! Do it now!!!
The training I've received from Mix It Up has been so beneficial is many ways. The training is practical - something that I greatly appreciate, as my time and efforts are valuable, but also because the techniques are explained and make sense and are therefore easier to pick up, regardless of your fitness or coordination level. I know some people that think they have to "get in shape" before joining a gym or training program. Usually because their previous class experience was with a huge group of people and only one instructor that never gave them any feedback or helped them during class. That's not the case at Mix It Up! All of the training is done from a ground-up approach, and start with the basics, so ANYONE can do it!! They also offer more advanced classes and take a personal interest in your progress, making sure you are getting the training you need at the right time. I've seen the owners, Chris and Jennifer Coble, take time to talk with each person that walks through the door - finding out what they're interested in and making tailored suggestions for each person. The classes include a lot of one-on-one training within a comfortable group setting, so I always feel like I'm getting good feedback and personalized instruction. I've met and made a lot of friends through the MIU center and always look forward to classes; which vary from low-impact Pilates to Bootcamp, boxing and self-defense. The positive, family-friendly environment isn't at all what I expected from a mixed martial arts place (I was thinking Rocky & raw-eggs or Mr. Miyagi or something)! But MIU offers such a broad range of classes and personal training, there really is something for everyone from senior citizens to professional athletes...and all of US in between! It's neat to see parents and their kids working out in the same place and the instructors help encourage the camaraderie. The Krav Maga training I've received has had a lot of positive influence on my daily life - the conditioning increases your body awareness and general movement, and the cardio aspect is great! Having no previous knowledge of any martial arts or self-defense, I was pleasantly surprised to find how rewarding the classes are - not because I perform well, but because I performed at all! It's empowering to try something new and to test your limits a little bit, especially b/c you almost always find out you can do much more than you thought! And while I hope to never find myself in a situation where Krav Maga training or self-defense is necessary, it's a nice feeling to know you've just spent an hour going through a great total-body workout...that might also one day save your life."
Started working out under Kris' supervision in December 2013. Had worked out regularly and extensively in the military and usg contracting since the late 60's but had a second bout with cancer in 2010 with intensive chemo and radiation that pretty much debilitated me. Chris has done a great job getting an old 66 year old back in decent shape in a friendly, professional environment. I also have sustained some fairly significant orthopedic and impact injuries which, from time to time, act up and Kris is very adept at finding alternate exercises until the pain resolves. Very satisfactory personal trainer! I would recommend him highly!
About a year ago I thought I knew everything about working out. Not only have I been going to the gym for at least 6 years but I’ve even experimented with cross fit, kick boxing and hip-hop aerobics. Like many working moms, I try to squeeze in the time to exercise and eat healthy. Unfortunately life can get pretty busy between jobs, kids, pets, relatives and significant others. Before you know it, exercise and nutrition are #100 on the to-do list just under bleaching the grout and scheduling hypnotherapy for your neurotic cat. Last Spring, after some difficult health struggles, I became profoundly unmotivated to take care of myself. However, the longing for that sense of wellness that exercise and nutrition had fostered in the past prompted me to send a half-hearted email to the gym up the street. After a surprisingly prompt reply from a personal trainer named Christopher Gonzalez, I realized that all I got from exercise in the past were 2 broken fingers and a hip-hop-career-ending ankle sprain. All joking aside, my exercise journey with Christopher has not been about extreme weight loss or that post-baby 6 pack. Instead, our trainer-client relationship has a strong foundation built from a collaborative effort inspired by Christopher’s knowledge and experience. His dedication to training and fitness became evident just after a couple of training sessions. After listening to what my goals were, he did an excellent job of communicating how I could achieve success through exercise and nutrition. He gives an incredible amount of attention to each training session using a combination of different exercises. His personality, patience, and sense of humor have made me want to work hard to make each session count. I have been rewarded as I find myself more fit in my 40’s than I was in my 20’s. What matters most, however, is that my success has been sustainable despite my hectic life. I owe that to Christopher, as he has mastered the ART of personal training.
