Introduction: At WOA, we repair tube amplifiers, reverbs, and solid state devices. We etch and design custom-effect boxes and program solid-state chips. A second side of the business is centered on 3-D modeling, computer programming, and video game development. WOA also provides guitar lessons specific to live performance of any style, using practical examples to side-step the many issues that face the live, performing guitarist. Our approach is based around increasing the comfort zone of the musical instrument and practical maintenance through the use of The Guitar Handbook; a harmonic approach based on 12-tone Western tonal theory, written music composition, and also non-Western organizational systems; training in aspects of computerized music from the basics of analog, digital, MIDI to Ableton Live to Sibelius to Band in A Box; how to use samples/be a DJ; how to integrate audio into computer programs and video games using programs such as Unreal Engine 4; using practical physics to design unique new musical instruments, and how to amplify and digitize analog instruments; learning how to hear with the listening book; and finally learning to publicly improvise in real time and the many methods to developing the immediate melodic acumen that separates those who appear professional from those who shouldn't be on stage for another two years. Custom tube amplification, tube and solid-state effects design, and 3-D design and prototyping of unique parts such as knobs are available.
