OFFICES CONVENIENTLY LOCATED IN DALLAS/ DOWNTOWN FORT WORTH AND HOUSTON Please note my reviews under photos. I handle cases all over the State of Texas. I am known by name by the Family Court Judges and handled cases throughout Dallas, Harris and surrounding counties, Collin, Tarrant, Ellis, Rockwall, Denton and Johnson County. I have been practicing family law for over 20 years. It is the only area of law that I practice. I have handled thousands of hearings in the family courts including but not limited to divorces, modifications, enforcement, contempt, discovery motions, temporary orders, spousal support, child support, alimony and adoptions. Furthermore, I have tried jury cases to verdict and have successfully won custody for Mothers and Fathers and had residency restrictions lifted. I prepare for my cases under the presumption that my opposing counsel knows everything about a particular family law issue. As a result of my zealous preparation, I am confident that I will know more than opposing counsel and I can use that advantage to get great results for my clients. I go above and beyond for my clients. I treat each and everyone of my clients with respect and dignity. I understand that family cases can be very emotional and I do what I can not only to be successful in Court but to make sure my client and/ or their children are not emotionally scarred by the divorce process. Whenever I can get a battered spouse or an abused child out of bad situation it makes all the hard work that much more worthwhile. I also really enjoy adoptions and seeing the smile on a child's face when they have found someone who will finally love and take care of them.See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I hire a good divorce attorney?

It’s important to spend an adequate amount of time researching and vetting several divorce attorneys before you hire one. Start by searching for top-rated lawyers near you, and read through their clients’ reviews. Get an idea of their reputation, how successful they are and how they set their pricing.

Make sure each attorney you’re considering is admitted to the bar in the state where your divorce could be adjudicated (ask your prospective lawyer first if you aren’t sure which state is right). And when you feel like you have a good list of potential divorce lawyers who can handle your case, contact them to get price estimates, their hourly rates and any other pricing terms.

What do lawyers do in a divorce?

A divorce lawyer handles negotiations regarding how assets are divided between spouses, as well as who assumes debts. The divorce lawyer can also help establish an agreement for child support and child custody between the spouses. All of this requires research and evidence gathering, as well as compiling and filing paperwork with the court that summarizes the evidence.

When should I hire a divorce attorney?

You should hire a divorce attorney in situations where settlements are hard to reach between you and your spouse, or if you want to better understand your rights. This includes a wide range of complicated issues, with common examples being:

  • Child custody and child support
  • Debts owed
  • Future assets like inheritance
  • Current assets like houses, cars and valuables

You should hire an attorney if you and your spouse are having difficulty agreeing to terms on how to handle these issues.

Who pays for a divorce?

Often, each spouse pays their own respective lawyer’s attorney fees and costs during a divorce. However, certain circumstances may lead to one party paying for the other’s legal fees.

Do divorce lawyers work on contingency?

It’s unusual for divorce lawyers to work on contingency, where they receive an agreed-upon proportion of the awarded amount if and only if they win the case. It's much more common for lawyers to work on a retainer or on a fixed hourly fee. Always discuss the fees and payment options with lawyers you’re considering hiring.

How do lawyers get paid if they lose a case?

Lawyers typically charge for their time (typically a hourly rate) regardless of whether they win a case. Sometimes, the losing party is ordered to pay the other party’s lawyer fees on top of their own. Some lawyers also work on contingency, meaning they will take a percentage of the awarded amount only if they successfully win the case.

Before hiring a lawyer, make sure you understand their fee structure.

Reviews for Missouri City divorce attorneys
Larisha R.
I had the absolute worst experience with Le Law Group. I ultimately found another lawyer that produced results that Le Law Group (LLG) was incapable of producing. After finding a competent attorney, my divorce finalized after 6 weeks, compared to 7 months of money grabbing and no action with LLG. My attorney that successfully finalized my divorce cost slightly more per hour and I paid a consultation fee. However, I got results. LLG does not perform for the best client outcome, they wanted to string my case along as long as possible, while charging on a bi-monthly basis. Natalie Le just talks a good talk during initial consultation, but she and Amy were clueless when it came to producing real results. I noticed that basically all of the “5 star reviews” are vague comments most likely left by friends family, and staff of the law firm. My attorney after LLG informed me on many possible directions that were not taken by LLG that would have been more favorable for me as a client. When I looked at reviews of reputable law firms, true 5 star reviews had details regarding what kind of case it was and how the attorney was helpful in the case. Compared to the vague reviews that say LLG attorneys are “great” , you can recognize fabricated reviews. If you want a relatively quick and seamless divorce keep looking, you will NOT get that from LLG.
