Prompt timing, removed spots very well. A couple of extra wet spots & residue on tile floor from hoses that prevented a five star rating. Would use again.

I found Mr. Victor on thumbtack and was glad I made the decision to hire him to clean my carpet as well as clean my tiles and grout. Victor came by and have me a very fair and affordable estimate. He also was very accommodating with my busy schedule and was there on time. I wish I would have taken a picture of the before and after but he did an amazing job!! My carpets and floors look amazing just like it looked when I first moved into my home. I highly recommend Victor for all of your carpet and floor needs!!

These guys did a good job cleaning our carpet. The only complaint we have is that they were late arriving for their appointment. However, they were quick and efficient in completing the job.

I had Helpful Hand Steam cleaning Services clean the tile floors in my kitchen and both bathrooms. They were professional and did an excellent job. I have had them cleaned before but was not pleased with the way my floors looked after another company cleaned them. When Stephen with A Helpful Hand cleaned my floors the tiles and grout came out looking clean and like new! A Helpful Hand Steam Cleaning Services is a honest and reputable company. I highly recommend them and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

Les worked for me on three occasions, each time for fairly extensive periods, averaging 2 - 3 months each time. Originally, I wanted to fix up our old place before selling it. The bathrooms were the main area of interest, and he suggested using tile for the lavatories which had originally been done in cultured marble that had yellowed and stained over time. The finished results looked outstanding. When he had completed the majority of the original work, a roof leak following a storm damaged my wooden floors and the ceiling and wall sheetrock upstairs. A few months later, Les returned and re-floored partial sections of two upstairs rooms. The original flooring had been applied with glue, so it was extremely difficult to get the floor level again so that new wood could be laid, but he managed to do so, and the net result was that the new flooring blended in seamlessly. Damage to the ceiling was also repaired expertly. Finally, when we moved into our new place, Les 1) made a number of sheetrock repairs throughout the house, 2) repainted most of the house (2400 sq. feet with several flights of stairs), 3) removed the carpeting and refloored the downstairs bedroom/office using hardwood, and 4) built a custom wall-to-wall (8' wide by 8' high) bookcase in one of the upstairs rooms, and 4) applied an epoxy coating to the garage. I was extremely satisfied with the quality of all of the work and feel confident in saying that Les can take on any challenge given to him. He is also dependable and trustworthy.

Mr. Johnson initially was hired to clean my carpet, however he was so diligent in educating me about the floors in general that he also cleaned the tile in my kitchen and bathroom. My carpet and tile floor has been revived. It's like a new house again.

I hired Juan to do all the tile in my master bath, which included removing existing tile and ripping out the tub and surround He installed and tiled a new walk-in shower and laid a new tile floor. The project turned out very well and I am very happy with his work. I changed design specs on him twice during the project and he even lost a full day of being able to work here due to a mixup with scheduling the plumber, but he took it all in stride and was a true professional. I highly recommend hiring Juan Almanza!

I am very happy with the service that was done at two vacant apartments that I manage. The units cleaned had never looked better. Besides managing apartments, I also hold a full time job and Esther was able to work with me on the day and time that was most convenient for me to let the crew into the units. I did mention that there was paint splatter on some of the tiles in the living room that I needed taken care of but the crew did not come prepared with a scraper. Not too much of a big deal for me. It can always be scraped later. Price was reasonable and I will consider hiring for additional work in the future.

It was a simple floor cleaning. It was a new construction vinyl tile floor. The contractor warned about using high water or cleaning products. Jose was very knowledgable and personable. Also his pricing was more than competitive. I will reuse and recommended his services.

Andrew and his crew we so pleasant to work to. Got the job done in speedy time and took the care to do it well! We are so thrilled without bathroom remodel! They even had an issue in the job with a broken pipe and were quick to fix it with minimal additional cost. We will be using again in the future! See photos, replaced two bottom rows of shower tiles after rebuilding the shower pan, then installed new shower floor and area floor in bathroom. I couldn’t find exact matching tile but liked this tile better so once we save up we will be replacing it with Andrew as well!

The Pros did our new floors. Had tiled installed and had the carpets removed. Very good company. Their price was right. The crew that came out to do the work were on time and cleaned up nicely. The installation came out great. My wife and I would use this company again.

Our office was in need of care and H Tech's team did a great job. Especially the tile floors - stripped, cleaned and waxed (5 coats!). The tile didn't look this good new! They will continue to keep us fresh.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

    • Old standard or electric toothbrush
    • Stiff bristle brush
    • Spray bottle
    • White vinegar
    • Commercial grout cleaner

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.
