My husband and I got married in September 2014 and started planning our wedding in January. We knew we wanted to have the wedding at our home but we wanted it to have all of the regular things a wedding has: full dinner, dancing, full bar, dj, etc so I knew hiring a Wedding Planner would help things run a lot more smoothly. I am kind of a control freak and I really wanted to plan most everything myself, so I really just needed a day of coordinator. I found Sharon Peoples off of Thumbtack after searching through countless other coordinators websites and even a couple over-the-phone and in person interviews. Sharon blew us away the day we met her. She came to our home for the meeting and immediately began taking notes and giving us ideas. Planning a wedding at your home is a pretty daunting task, or at least it was for us since we had just moved in a few months prior and we had a lot of work we wanted to do. Being January, all of our plants and grass were pretty much dead (or looked that way) but Sharon didn't flinch a bit when we told her we envisioned getting married in our backyard. She gave us a ton of information and ideas before we ever signed the contract and then she went over all of the details over what her packages included. She recommended we go with her Lady in Waiting package which is essentially a day-of coordinator package like we were looking for. However Sharon provided WAY more help which began immediately for us. She recommended vendors and exchanged innumberable emails with us leading up to the big day. She even met with a vendor for me when I was unable, and took over all of our vendors the month prior to the wedding. A few weeks before the big day she came again to our home to see how everything was coming along and go over the timeline with us. She again made lots of notes and recommendations on how to get things to run smoothly and she really listened to us as far as what kind of feel we were going for. We really didn't want things to seem too planned or scheduled. We wanted everything to just flow naturally while still adhering as close as possible to a timeline. The day of the wedding Sharon and her assistant (part of her business includes training other event planners) arrived on time. Her assistant's help is included in the original cost and they were BOTH amazing! Sharon immediately began seeing to everything that needed to be set up all while explaining to her assistant what the plan was and how we wanted everything set up. Sharon was an extremely professional and dependable coordinator who went out of her way to make our wedding run flawlessly! I was truly amazed that there were no hiccups during our wedding, and that everything just seem to happen so effortlessly! I would encourage anyone planning a wedding to hire Event Planners of Houston to help out EVEN if you are planning on keeping it simple or doing most everything your self. I really couldn't put a price on how nice it was for my husband, our families and I to just be able to relax the day of the wedding and not worry about what time it was or what should be happening next. Hiring Sharon was by far the BEST decision we made in planning our wedding and we are already discussing hiring her for future parties or events that we might have in the future.

Sharon called me to tell me that she and I were not a good fit instead of addressing my questions and issues, three weeks before my event after I had sent out my invitations! She tired to turn it on me and say I had not decided on the tent. I had sent her that information days before. I wanted her guidance as to flooring and instead, she threw that in my face. She also told me that she does not allow her clients to micromanage the event. This occurred because I asked her for pictures of my centerpieces, party favors, and linens being used for MY event. She obviously does not take criticism very well. Yes, I approved the DESIGN of my invitation, but I was never asked what size or type of paper I wanted the invitation. I could have done those invitations myself. She also never discussed any packages. I kept getting revised bills with no specification as to what each item cost. I hired an event planner because I don't have time to do this myself. So, I expected someone to guide me and advise me when I had a question or doubt. I also expected to have everything be approved by me after offering me suggestions or various quotes. If micromanaging to Sharon means that I want to see what will ultimately be at MY event, then, yes, I am a micro-manager and she is right, we are NOT a good fit.

It is unfortunate that this person feels the need to write an unpleasant review. Each and every client we have services has been COMPLETELY satisfied with the quality and end result of our services. If you want to know if we send a picture of every single item that we are providing? The answer is yes and no. Yes to clients who have SIGNED their contract and No to clients who have not. Who sends their design/concept to someone that hasn't signed a contract? Getting revised bills with no specification as to what each item cost? Every revised quote is attached and emailed to the client (and non-client) and a new invoice is sent. Luckily for us, we keep each and every email that comes in and goes out for each client (and non-client) so that we can always go back and reference what was said and sent. No packages were discussed? Again lucky for us we can look at previous emails to show that the customized package which was sent had a break down of each and every item/service that is included. But it wasn't discussed?? Ok. This type of unjustified comment is the reason why we choose not to work with this client. For the past 14 years we have worked with and will continue to work with clients who are a "good fit".

This company was hired to organize by children's birthday party. My kids and their guests did have a great time, but some of the aspects did not live up to my standards. I was pleased by the service provided, but there were some aspects I was not happy with. The DJ that was hired should not be used for children's parties. He was very abrupt and harsh with the kids. He did not know a lot of the children's dance games, and the birthday songs were not great. I was also not pleased by the quality of the cupcakes. There were no special topppers or decorations to go with the theme, just a ton of frosting. I was also not happy with the contents of the goody bags. I asked to be given the list of contents for the goody bags during the panning sessions, but was that was not given. There was too much candy in the bags and not of good quality. The souvenirs were also not great.

Judy, We are happy to know that the kids had a great time. We really enjoyed interacting with them. It was a very fun party. We're sorry to hear about the DJ and I can assure you that we will look into his services.

All I can say is that the party was everything that we imagined and more. It was so beautiful and the guest had a blast. Sharon and her team is phenomenal!!!!!
