**Now offering summer tutoring discounted rates when enrolled before June 1, 2026!**
Hi! I’m Ms. Minter, a dual state-certified educator and reading specialist. I’m passionate about helping young learners build strong reading and literacy skills. I work with students from Pre-K through 2nd grade, providing research-based, explicit, and systematic instruction designed to develop confident, capable readers.
My instruction is tailored to each child’s unique learning needs and is designed to be engaging, fun, and supportive. I provide targeted support in key areas including decoding, encoding, writing, and comprehension—helping students build a solid foundation in reading that will support their continued growth and success.
Please reach out to schedule a free 30-minute consultation so I can learn more about your child’s literacy needs and how J107 Tutoring can best support them!
J107 Foundational Reading & Literacy is also listed as a preferred vendor on the TEFA (Texas Education Freedom Accounts) website. TEFA funds/vouchers can be used to pay for tutoring services with J107 beginning in Fall 2026.
Further information about my background:
I have over 12 years of experience teaching in kindergarten through second grade, as well as providing intervention support for students in grades K–5. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Elementary Education and a specialization in Special Education from the University of North Texas, and my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Reading and Literacy.
I hold dual certification in Texas and Washington State and am trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach—a research-based, multisensory, and explicit method for teaching reading. Throughout my career, I have worked with a diverse range of learners with varying academic and ability needs, allowing me to tailor instruction to support each child’s growth.
I look forward to partnering with your family to help your child reach their literacy goals!

Sydney Minter is an exceptional educator. She takes the time to identify each students needs and learning style and tailor a plan to help them reach their goals. She tutored both of my children and they thrived under her instruction, and most importantly they absolutely LOVED her!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Sessions are paid monthly depending on frequency. I offer 8 sessions per month (2 sessions weekly), or 12 sessions per month (3 sessions weekly). I also offer discounts for summer tutoring when students are signed up before June 1st.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to start with a brief consultation so I can hear what some of the family's concerns are, how the child is struggling, and ensure my services are a good fit. From there, the initial tutoring session will be a 'diagnostic session'. I will conduct a few initial assessments in order to determine where to begin instruction with the student and create goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I received my Bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Special Education. I received my Master's from Texas A&M University in Curriculum & Instruction with a focus in Reading and Literacy. I have 12+ years of experience teaching in public school. My career focused on K-2 classroom instruction, but I also worked in intervention for grade levels K-5. I am Orton-Gillingham trained.
