In addition to extensive performing experience, I am a Vic Firth Endorsed Educator, a member of TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) and PAS (Percussive Arts Society). All of these organizations share my commitment to quality music education.
I customize a lesson plan based on each students' unique needs, interests and learning style. This adaptability engages students right away and keeps them committed to progressing on their instrument.
I enjoy working with students at all levels. I've worked with beginners from learning their first beat to joining their first band, and going on national tours. I've helped students successfully navigate music school applications, and auditions. I've guided professionals through troubleshooting their technique to improve overall playing.
I have spent the the last 40 years studying drums and percussion, and have been teaching for 25 years. I enjoy sharing the knowledge I have acquired with students to help attain his or her musical goals. My excitement for percussion transfers to my students, encouraging them to practice and excel.

My son has only been with Rob for a month, but I'm impressed with how patient, kind and fun he is. My son loves the lessons and really likes Rob. Rob is great with the kids and a great communicator with the parent. His studio is inviting and conveniently located. I highly recommend starting lessons with Rob if your child is wanting to learn to play the drums. Rob knows how to make practice feel fun while teaching the core of learning to play drums.

I am an amateur musician across several instruments (keyboards, guitar, and now drums) in his mid 40's. I have had two good instructors and several disappointing ones. Rob is one of the two good ones.
IMO, a teacher should give his/her students material that is just outside of their reach and then help keep them focused until they master that material. Rinse, lather, repeat. Rob does this superbly, keeping it fun, knowing when to let me vent, and knowing when I am capable of doing better.
I would highly recommend Rob as a drum instructor.

We went to a few teachers to talk about lessons and had a couple of intro lessons. I felt like Rob knew how to approach my son in order to reach him so he could learn. Rob also goes at the speed that challenges him but not overwhelms him. Great teacher.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
There are no hidden fees, startup fees, registration fees, etc. I don't add fees so I can provide discounts.
The first month is prorated, after that each monthly payment is conveniently processed on the first of the month to your credit card on file. Cash payment is also available.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Each student's abilities and goals are unique, so I develop a custom lesson plan for each student.
Your first lesson consists of two parts: a discussion of goals and expectations, and a low-stress playing assessment. I'll lead you through a series of exercises designed to quickly and accurately find your strengths and areas for improvement.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I regularly work with other professional drummers to further my playing and teaching abilities. Notable Famous Drummers: Louise Belson (Jazz Great), Greg Bissonette (David Lee Roth), Zoro (Lenny Kravitz), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Tommy Aldridge (Ozzy, Whitesnake) & Teddy Campbell (American Idol).
