Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Thank you for your interest in taking lessons with me. Playing the piano or any other musical instrument can be a positive and rewarding experience for you, your child and the entire family. I believe the difference between a frustrating piano lesson and a fun, stimulating piano lesson comes down to tailoring the lesson to the student. Everyone learns at a different pace and enjoys different styles of music. My Mission is to instill in every student “The Love of Music”. I have been teaching for over 25 years from a private studio in my home. I teach all ages, from five years old to 99 years old. Each lesson is tailor made for that student, while laying a solid musical foundation.

Piano Lessons (for children or teenagers)

My son, who is taking his piano lessons with Marion Decell is very happy with his lessons. Marion is very patient and encouraging and that makes a difference. We are very satisfied and would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a piano instructor to try!

Piano Lessons

Marion builds each lesson around each student's individual needs instead of a one size fits all approach. She is very patient and encourages each student to do their best.

Both of my children have taken piano lessons from Marion Decell for years and loved her. She truly enjoys working with the kids! It's not just about the piano, but also about encouraging them as they are growing up and becoming young adults. Marion promotes responsibility in her students with reasonable practice times, expectations for the next lesson time and gentle accountability. Smiles were always involved, even when the kids may have been feeling frustrated with a piece of music. Marion has terrific patience, reliability and professionalism!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Lessons are either 60- Minutes, 45-Minutes or 30-Minutes in length. The 45-Minute Lesson is $37.50, and the 30-Minute Lesson is $25. The 60-Minute lesson is $50.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Once we communicate by text, email, or telephone, I set up an interview for them to come to my studio and meet with me. This gives them a feel for whether they feel comfortable to take lessons with me.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Marion Decell started taking piano lessons at 8 years of age, after asking her mother to learn to play the organ. Her mother insisted she should learn to play the piano first! She studied under Elizabeth Ellen Taylor Slikker for the next six years. In 1977, Marion studied under Roger Jameson for the next 2 ½ years. She was a member of the “National Fraternity of Student Musicians” and participated in Guild Auditions while studying under Mr. Jameson. Marion has been studying piano and playing for over 40 years. She has taught for the past 25 years. Marion has been Director of Music for churches in Texas, South Carolina and Virginia. She is also a songwriter and composer. She loves teaching all ages and has experienced the reward of seeing many of her students grow into accomplished musicians and pursue their love of music as a career. Marion has been happily married to her husband, Craig, for 32 years, and has three beautiful children who are now all married. She and Craig have 2 grandchildren, who are the absolute joy of their lives.
