FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am an in0network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and Cigna. I am happy to verify or clarify your benefits for you before we meet. If you belong to another insurance carrier, I will provide youth a billing receipt so that you can submit it for reimbursement according to your plan. Many times, we can work out a payment plan so that you can afford to begin sessions while waiting for your reimbursement. I also have a sliding scale fee based on your income if you are uninsured. If finances remain an issue, I have an intern that is under my clinical supervision who works on a lower sliding scale, and she is available on Thursdays for appointments. Please dont allow the fear of the cost to stop you from seeking counseling!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am required to maintain 30-40 hours of continuing education every two years to maintain all three of my licenses and certifications. I have a mandatory requirement to take an Ethics course every two years, to stay current on HIV and other STDs, and to take a jurisprudence exam as well, so that I stay currently informed of the laws and codes that exist to protect my clients privacy and other legal and ethical issues involved in counseling. For the other hours, I usually choose subject matter that is interesting to me or applies to current clients I am working with, such as ways to effectively heal trauma, treat anxiety symptoms, work more effectively with couples, or learn about the newest interventions in the treatment of depression.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Because I believe deeply that anyone can change anything they want to, with guidance and support, whether inside of themselves, in the world, or both.
