DJ IrocZ was amazing! We hired him to DJ our twins Sweet 16 birthday party. He was quick in responding to my initial text and stayed in touch until the party. He was there to set up right when he said he would be, was very professional and very reasonably priced! He has a very nice setup. The party and music was so much fun because of him. I'm still getting kids and parents telling me it was the best party they've been to! Super happy we hired him and will definitely hire him for our future events!

We hired Travis for my daughter's sweet 16 party and he was excellent, he goes beyond what you expect from a DJ, he was engaged from the start with planning, asking questions that we had not even thought about. He was prepared and made the party go smoothly. Most of all he played great music, kept the party moving, kept the kids dancing and provided fun games along the way. I will hire him again and you will be happy if you do.

Damon performed at my party in Trinity Groves recently. He and his band were on time, brought their own equipment and were set up before my guests arrived. His vocals were amazing and the band - all consummate professionals. It was a great night - they played longer than expected - which was great and his playlist was perfect for my audience. You can't go wrong with Damon he is a pleasure to work with and a gifted artist.

Wow! Dina was amazing! She gave so much life to our ceremony - she was perfect! She played a bit before our ceremony as guest arrived, and as the bridal party walked in and out. Then she played a bit after our ceremony! It was very nice having Dina be a part of our special day! I highly recommend her!

I first contacted Mark after seeing an online advertisement for piano lessons in the Addison area. I mentioned to him that I was interested in learning piano and had absolutely no knowledge of piano, although I did have a background in music as a vocalist and trombonist for a band in college. He cheerfully followed up with me and had me come in to the piano gallery for a preview lesson, introducing me to the basics and making recommendations on keyboards and music. After only a few months of lessons I was on my way to a newly discovered passion. Mark has been instrumental in advancing my musical abilities and has been extremely flexible in scheduling lessons, as well as very adaptable to my abilities.

We found Greg on Thumbtack and went to see him at Sheps in Weatherford while searching for a band for our wedding! Greg was super nice and he entertained the crowd that was there. The entire time he stayed in contact with us while we were picking songs for our wedding. At the wedding he was prompt and went over the top to make it special. I really liked the special song he learned for us and played at our table! It was definitely a night to remember and everyone had good compliments after! I highly recommend him for any event!

WOW.... Where do I begin. This guy is too good to be true. DO NOT HESITATE TO HIRE HIM!!! He showed up early, stayed late and provided the ambiance for my son's 1st surprise birthday party at 25 years old. Without Freddy it would have simply been a bunch of people sitting around talking. Freddy you are DA MAN.... He can play any genre of music, has a great voice and the personality that goes along with being a true pro! We will be using you again my friend!!!

We had Mr. Goodfriend perform for an event at the Children's Museum in Commerce. Our initial conversation over the phone was very helpful and prompted us to hire him for a magic show. He was professional with the staff and very quick to set up. The children loved his show, full of humor for kids and adults alike. We especially loved that he engaged the audience, bringing several kids up "on stage" to help him with his acts. We highly recommend Mr. Goodfriend for your party or event!

Anthony was a pleasure to work with ... Magen was outstanding. I didn't get a chance to meet her ... I was with the wedding party and when I walked into the church ... well that was the only time I heard her play. I could watch and listen to her for hours .... Megan .... you went with the flow .. and when the Leah the bride took a little too long coming into the church, you handled it ... I think you had to play the same entry 3 times :) sorrry. But it worked. You looked and sounded awesome and I would recommend you every/any time. Thank you .... From Michigan to Texas .... Love ya'all.

I wanted to say how wonderful Cover Band was at our first annual company Christmas Party. Everyone was extremely happy with the songs that were played and how the band presented on stage. I am still getting compliments from employees and friends about how good the music was. We can't thank Cover Band enough for such a wonderful and unforgettable evening. We will definitely use them again and highly recommend them for any type of entertainment. Awesome job!

These guys did a fantastic job for us at our annual Lacrosse banquet! They were there early to set up, stayed the entire time to make sure things ran smoothly and then didn't leave until after checking out to make sure we were all done. They went above and beyond to help all the parents and the large group of high schoolers get cute pictures and make fun memories! The pictures were fantastic quality and the kids had a blast with posing different ways and being in different groups shots with each other. Would definitely recommend them for any group event or party. We already have them booked for this years banquet!

We had an amazing time at our party with Silvasongs...the dance floor stayed full all night. Everyone had a blast. We told him the music genre and he delivered with more than what we expected. His music selection is like no other I've seen. We had something for everyone- contemporary, reggae, calypso, Latin, country etc..it was Awesome! Definitely getting him back at our next event.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

    • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
    • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
    • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.
