Well let me tell you…. This guy here was genuinely a great person. We didn’t expect to have fight the weather on the day of, but it rained and he still made it a genuine fun experience. He made me and my now fiancé feel extremely comfortable and made the most of the situation of rain and sun shine during our shoot. The entire time he helped us work through the rain we had to endure during the shoot, got us some good photos in the rain, and once it cleared up still worked with getting better shots where possible. As a photographer he assisted us making correct poses, what he thought would look great, and used the environment we were in to get better shots. My only complaint is he is in San Antonio and will probably not be able to have him take photos for us unless we plan something in San Antonio again. If you are looking for someone to take great photos, someone that is genuinely going work with the situation presented, and just a great person to get to know during you shoot. This is your guy.

This will be a generally positive review, but I want to be transparent about a couple of negatives. First off, Bob is a real pleasure to work with onsite. His professionalism, affable nature, and creative instincts were all delightful. We spoke to several potential photographers for our small wedding ceremony and got some ridiculous estimates for one hour (we only had our venue for two total hours). Bob was on the more reasonable side, and we agreed on the date and timing. The week before, I reached out again to confirm the date and time.
However, on our wedding day, I was running around but noticed it was close to the 12:45 pm call time. Our cake was delivered early, the officiant arrived early…but no Bob. I called, and he told me that wires were crossed, and he thought the call time was later in the day. Very calmly, we talked through the situation, and he said he could be there in 15-20 minutes. So, unfortunately, that threw off our timing for the rest of the limited time we had in the event space. I’ll say that Bob was profusely apologetic, and he did get some great exterior shots, but we had to really limit what we did because of timing (we had to rush through our family photos). We also got some nice photos just outside the reception room in the hall. I noticed that Bob never once mentioned a discount for his tardiness. Instead, Bob said that to make up for his late arrival, he would prioritize our photos and get them to us early. So, because of that, I was pretty forgiving. Mistakes happen.
But here are a couple of things: 1. Our interior photos weren’t very well lit. This was probably because he was only prepared for the exterior shots, as he had to arrive and start shooting immediately with no prep time. 2. He said he would deliver our photos early, so I felt that would make up for being late. But that didn’t happen. The photos were delivered within the normal time frame. I wish there had been a reason for the delay communicated ahead of time, instead of me having to inquire twice about their status.
Now, to the positives! Overall, we were generally pleased with how the photos turned out. He delivered about 100. We also appreciated that Bob sent us 10 preview shots, which was great for immediate social posting. Bob was also responsive when we asked for the original color versions of some he had sent that were saturated (not accidentally, just an artistic touch on his part). We also appreciated how easy his delivery method was (just a link to download from, with no weird apps or platforms where you have to create an account like some other photogs do). Overall, it was a good experience working with Bob, but the other vendors we worked with provided a FANTASTIC experience, and that’s what we were hoping for here. I just wish he hadn't overpromised and underdelivered, or offered us a discount if early delivery wasn’t an option anymore. I’m a creative myself, so I know that everyone has a bad day at the office occasionally. It just happened to be with our wedding. That said, based on his other reviews, this seems like an anomaly, and he still deserves your consideration, but I wanted to be transparent about our experience, which, aside from the timing debacle, was mostly pleasant.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I understand that everyone has a budget, so I try to be fair with my pricing. Also, my standard agreement automatically includes 30 days of follow-up. So if you call me two weeks later looking for a specific shot...not worries.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get a little background about the event. I once shot a wedding where the couple had set out bottles of sand. I had to ask. It turns out they were bottles of sand from their respective home towns, and the ceremony included pouring the sands into one vessel as a symbol of unity. So I made sure I captured this as it played out. Feel free to share the details.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My first academic photography experiences date back to the early 90's, where I learned composition and developing images in a darkroom. Getting the right shot in the pre-digital days was a pain-staking process, but it taught me to be patient with the subject.
