Marie answered my request for work very promptly, she shared with me her ideas and shared pictures along the way. I was a little disappointed in one piece and it may have been me that I didn't know exactly what I was looking for. She let me know a time she'd come back to my house to pick up the piece, worked some more on it, and the piece came out beautifully. both pieces are great and her prices were very reasonable as well. Thank you Marie!

The job is not fully completed, however, everything is going swell and the patio looks really great. Marie saw the project through different eyes and made it into something I would have not thought about. She was courteous, professional, on time, and we agreed upon the price before the work started including the materials. I would definitely book her again.

Marie was on time and very professional. She was willing to do whatever I asked of her—from putting the trash from packaging in the garage to helping me place an area rug in the great room. I highly recommend Marie.

Marie did excellent work repairing drywall and making an access panel for a crawl space on a budget. She came out regularly to get the mudding and texturing completed and it looked good at a great price.

I had a few projects in my house that I hired her for. Marie did a great job with painting walls, replacing a few tiles in my kitchen floor, trimming my bushes, and pressure washing. She does quality work at a very reasonable price.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

It can be a little nerve-racking watching the clock as someone is working. Hoping that the time they spend on the work will be in your budget. I ALWAYS charge a flat rate. Through photos and conversations, I can get a pretty good gauge on how long it will take to complete a piece. Each furniture piece is different and unique. Therefore, quotes are based upon the job at hand, the complexity, the furniture type, and the estimated time spent on the project. Once you have the quote...you have my word...NO SURPRISES!

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

-I grew up working along side my grandfather helping with repairs needed to be fixed on various home properties (funny fact: learned to light a gas water heater by the age of 10). -I worked acquiring hands on furniture experience at Buffalo Gals Upholstery in Dripping Springs Texas. -I have taken Home Inspection courses with A Better School for Building Inspection and Champions School of Real Estate. I have passed my State Exam for the state of Texas and am currently working on taking my National Exam. -I have hands-on experience from training and working at the Home Depot in Lumber, Building Materials, Merchandising Execution Team, Merchandising Department lead for Windows and Doors (Millworks), and Plumbing.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

All of this started with a layoff scare. I was working in radio at the time and a whole slew of my friends had gotten laid off due to a change up of stations. I hadn't heard anything and had NO clue if I still had a job or not (I actually did...it took 48 hours before I heard back). Before anyone could call me to assure me whether or not I had a job, I immediately started sifting through Craigslist for immediate work! I found an ad for a little upholstery shop in the middle of Dripping Springs, TX...and that's where my journey started. I stripped furniture down, sewed edges, prepped upholstery materials, finished and/or painted wood pieces prior to upholstering...you name it, I did it! During that time, I worked in a workshop assisting with making window curtains. I also started taking clients on my own and stripped and painted wood furniture pieces on my own time. I eventually began working at Home Depot where I started off in the Lumber and Building Materials Department where I learned everything I needed to know about lumber, home building, and construction. Then I moved to the Merchandising Department building and maintaining displays for my store (again, you name it...I did it...shelves, Christmas displays, toilets, sinks, and the list goes on). From there, I began the next phase of my journey in the Plumbing Department. While still working at Home Depot, I started working freelance taking furniture assembly gigs for Handy putting together furniture for Wayfair. Basically in the span of a decade, I went from a burnout in media and marketing to journeying to the one thing that I truly love which is working with my hands while thinking creatively!
