Update to my original review: The owner called me in response to my review. Instead of trying to defend and deflect, Scott took full responsibility and asked how he could make things right. I told him the call showed integrity and just the call possibly earned him a 2nd opportunity to earn my business. Very few people are willing to take responsibility for anything deemed negative. ALL business owners need to take detailed notes of how Scott handled this seemingly negative review. The last thing anyone wants to hear is a bunch of BS excuses. Just shut your pie-hole, listen, take responsibility and do what's right! To be clear, this review is for NxtDr's quote, not for work done. The poor rating is for either a complete failure to understand the scope of work or for providing a ridiculously high quote. The work was completed by another qualified Thumbtack contractor for more than (4) times LESS than NxtDr's quote. If NxtDr didn't understand the SOW, shame on them. (It was explained in detail, with photos and an on-site, in-person review) If NxtDr just didn't want to do the job, just say so and save everyone a lot of time. If that quote was actually what they charge to patch a little drywall and do some touch up paint, a note to other Thumbtack users; shop your contractors, I saved $900 by using another fully qualified Thumbtack contractor who did a great job.

Our job involved repainting the exterior of the house and screened-in porch, including replacing many rotting wood slats and a few door jams. The crew did an amazing, thorough job, and the paint lines are straight and clean. They were also very personable and kept a tidy work site. Our job happened to be scheduled during a rainy couple of weeks, and while I do not at all fault Next Door for having to reschedule around the rain, I did have to be a fairly loud squeaky wheel to get a revised weekly and daily schedule from them. All in all though, the success of the paint job is the most important evaluation criteria, and our house looks GREAT. I would both recommend and use them again.
