FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I used to work in a cardiology practice and was just amazed at how many young patients were being diagnosed with heart disease. At this point the damage was already done. When the cardiology practice decided to downsize I found myself having to find new employment. I decided at this point to be proactive. What better place then weight management. By helping people lose weight I am being proactive at helping my patients reduce their risk for heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol. Prevention is the key to long term success.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't be afraid to ask questions. An informed patient is more likely to be successfull. Through proper questions and answers we can arrive at the appropriate treatment plan to meet your goals. Be honest with yourself and with me. I can't help you if you are not open about your weaknessess. By identifying weak areas in your diet we can look at ways to ensure solutions at handling those problematic areas and weak links. If you are truly working hard and can't seem to lose the weight then don't be afraid to ask me for further workup if I haven't offered it already. Sometimes we can follow a diet and exercise regimen to a T and yet not achieve results. This is when further workup needs to be done. At this point we can consider food allergy testing, hormonal workup or a more thorough thyroid test.
