FAQs
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I transcribe audio files via .wav and MP3 file transmission. The clients email me their audio file links as an attachment and I download them in order to perform the transcription. I deliver a quality work product -- a finished transcript, completed in a timely fashion. Severe time constraints are accepted. Not only do I transcribe the audio files -- I also monitor the document for spelling, punctuation, grammar and sentence structure. In some case, with the clients' permission, I will indicate where I believe paragraph breaks should be, while at the same time watching for run-on sentences and any inconsistencies withiin the document. Most of my transcripts read like a conversation because I maintain an awareness of readability statistics to improve comprehension long-term retention of the text within the transcript(s).
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would advise that they first ask how much the transcriptionist charges, up front -- with no hidden fees. I would ask them for the number of audio files and what sort of timeline they were looking fat for a turn-around time. I would not hesitate to ask a therapist what his or her credentials were -- // like how long have they been doing audio file transcript. Knowing these things ahead of time will save everyone involved a lot of time. And finally, last, but not least -- ask the prospective transcriptionist what their estimate would be in terms of the time involved in in completing their specific project.
