Eberardo and his wife are rare in todays world of private landscapers. I am a very particular guy and hard to please. Eberardo is one of the few of many hired contractors that exceeded my expectations, to near perfection. He actually was ALWAYS prompt and did exactly what I asked, and even went above and beyond per my requests. He is by far the best landscape contractor I or my neighbors have ever privately hired...Just a simple HARD working family that truly does honest and EXCELLENT WORK!! I HIGHLY recommend this husband and wife pair. Steve

I hired Crest to clear out a 500+ sqft section of my yard for garden and flower beds. This included removing several small trees and shrubs, removing stumps, digging out roots and removing sod to prep the area for new beds. The owner was professional, friendly and very responsive, and the crew was always on time and worked quickly and efficiently over two days. I was very pleased with Crest and will not hesitate to hire them again for my next project.

Robert and Sam did a wonderful job pruning my two oak trees, many crepe myrtle, trimmed all the bushes, and cut my lawn. In my opinion, what make Hawk's Tree and Lawn Service special is the way Robert and Sam do their work. They take their time to do good work, he take care of the yard as if it was his own yard, Robert would step back and use his aesthetic sensibility to see what branches of tree that need to be trim, not just finish the job and move to the next one. They did such good work, that when they were done with my yard, two of mine neighbor asked Robert to trim their trees the next day. I will definitely call Hawk's Tree and Lawn Service again to help me with future job. It is very nice to see individual who took pride in their work, and did it with such integrity!

Richardo at R&O is a class act. He was extremely profession, explained every step of the way, and VERY affordable. The craftsmanship is top notch, they did a fantastic job, and beat other quotes by 15%, and customized the brick work versus just throwing it up there.

Drew and his crew are awesome! I have been through a few landscaping companies and they are by far the best. Not only are they attentive, clean and considerate but they also leave the garden looking beautiful! I love the fact that I don't have to worry about running to the bank to get cash. They ran my credit card after the mow was done and sent my invoice to my email. Super smooth! I don't even have to be at home when they're here. Really really love that! Also, first time mow was only 14! Who could say no to that ;) Could not ask for better service. Highly highly recommend these folks!

Jeff is an outstanding and knowledge gardener who is anxious to educate and help his clients. He is very good at follow up and even make house calls to see how the plants are doing. He transformed our summer garden into a fall garden with annuals and it will look great until April. His creativity was welcomed and we have a unique pattern of flowers. He is excellent at checking for soil, water and sun elements to determine which plants go where. He is a quiet worker, cleans up and purchases the plants. We are very pleased with his efforts to make our yard look special. He is also very well informed about perennials and recommends those to serve as a backdrop to the annual color. He keeps the client preferences and their budget in mind. We would not hesitate to recommend Jeff Payne to others.

Giuseppe always arrived on time. Work was completed on schedule. All the workers were friendly and professional. I was impressed that all the workers were knowledgable of what they were doing and they could answer my questions and offer advice. Obviously the crew has worked together for a long time. They even helped clean up after a storm. The new irrigation system was planned and installed expertly. No leaks or adjustments have been needed since it was installed. Front lawn and new stone walkway look great. New flower bed design was appropriate to the house and looks great.

Graham built a 4X12 foot raised bed organic garden. He was very knowledgeable, dependable, kind, efficient worker. He is honest and a pleasure to work with as he made recommendations and benefits of planting a variety of vegetables, herbs, etc. suitable to Hill Country climate. All my neighbors enjoyed Kale that summer! Past year I trans planted Iris and they were lovely this Spring! Graham had developed his love of landscaping/gardening as a teenager. His loving parents nurtured his talent allowing him to build stone walls, build magnificent gardens changing Family's entire front yard! He has never looked back. He loves what he does; makes every effort to please his customers.

Josh was amazing. His landscaping knowledge is top notch and the best part of working with him is that he does the work himself and keeps you up to date with every step of the process. I never had to chase him down because he kept me in the loop along the way. He was reasonable, timely, listened to what I wanted and my lawn looks great. Highly recommend!

Roberto and his team did an OUTSTANDING job on our lawn. They replaced most of our dead grass, worked around some flagstones, filled in planting areas with mulch, even found a leak in one of our pipes and fixed it. Very considerate. Great communication. They even followed up the next day to make sure we had set our sprinklers correctly. I could not be more pleased and would re-hire them again in a minute. In fact, we have: they will be handling our lawn maintenance going forward. We fired one of the "best" companies in Dallas and will use Qualitech instead. Do not hesitate to select them for your lawn care needs.

Mr Leonard was willing to work with me to create a large all-native-plants wildlife garden. He searched for native plants, made recommendations for the best design and mulch, recommended and installed a drainage system to prevent root rot. He was professional, cooperative, and hard working. It was a pleasure to work with him.

Nella Roots did an awesome job. My garden is awesome. My front flower beds were pretty shabby but NR put in Texas native plants that flower in different seasons and some hardy herbs. Couldn't have done a better job. I also learned a lot about planting.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
