I'm opening some slots for novice players over 12 years of age at my studio, Babymoon Recording, in American Fork, Utah, on weekday afternoons. The charge is $35 per half-hour lesson.
If you want to hear me play, my latest album (of 18) called "Marvin Payne, All I Am" is available everywhere music can be downloaded or streamed.
(A number of my students have developed a desire to write songs, and I’ve provided guidance there, as well, having written a couple hundred songs, all commercially released.)

Only one lesson so it is rather hard to judge. He is willing to work with my abilities and I like his approach to teaching.

I have 2 daughters that take guitarlessons from Marvin and I feel lucky to have found him. Not only do they learn and consistently improve, but they both love him and enjoy the lessons. He is great with both my older daughter who is more advanced and my younger one who is more of a beginner. Our schedules are crazy and sometimes need to miss lessons and he's always willing to set up make-up lessons. Marvin is friendly, professional, and is definitely worth the money spent! He has a great little studio that we have used to record some music and he did a fantastic job. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone at any age and at any level.

I have worked with Marvin for over a year now. As an working adult with a number of young children I was initially worried that learning guitar late in life would be too difficult. however Marvin has been very patient with me and cheered on my progress every step of the way. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically have students pay by the month, $140 at the first of the month, with the idea that we’ll average four lessons a month. If a month has five Mondays and your lessons are on Mondays, it’s still $140. If Christmas falls on a Monday, it’s still $140. If that gets out of balance one way or another, we adjust. When necessary and possible, we try to fit in makeup lessons.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I have a fairly standard curriculum for beginning students, working on songs you choose after just a few weeks. With students who already play some, the challenge is to work together to identify gaps in your understanding and problems in your technique, and customize solutions.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I’ve played for 62 years, professionally for over 50.
