- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I try to have flat fees for as many of the services I offer as I can. For instance, a standard chapter 7 bankruptcy is $935. That being said, with some legal work there is no way to know just how long the work is going to take. For these jobs, I bill an hourly rate of $225. Nevertheless, I always strive to finish the work as efficiently as I can so as not to waste my clients' money.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to have a quick chat with a new client on the phone to get a brief idea of his or her situation. At that time, we discuss my fee and schedule a meeting in person to go over in depth the problem that the client is facing. Once I have clear idea of the client's situation and how they would like it resolved, I get to work on their case.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
What really helps an attorney is having all the information. I realize that sometimes it can be difficult to discover every little detail about a problem, but the more information a client can show to an attorney, the better his advice can be tailored to that client's situation. To go along with this idea, an attorney needs his client to be completely honest with him.
