FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely. I'm always trying to learn new techniques and tricks. Photography is a technical art and its always evolving and growing. Why shouldn't I? I watch many online seminars, study books, practice different ideas and work with established photographers who I admire to learn and grow.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My Journey started back in high school. I really loved photography but didn't have the courage to pursue it. Then when I became a mother I took my daughter to a studio for her 1st year and I was disappointed, annoyed and overall unhappy with my experience. It was the kick in the pants I needed to try something I'd always had a passion for. Throwing away all of my insecurities and worries, I told myself to "Just try it" and now I have a thriving photography business. I've learned mountains of things a long the way. I have no formal training in photography. Everything I know I have learned from a lot of hard work, sleepless nights, tears, wonderful job opportunities and I've also received help and advice from experienced photographers and business coaches. I'm still taking classes, reading blogs, buying new equipment and trying new things. I don't think I will ever know enough and I'm ok with that. I also do makeup and hair. I've always loved working with makeup but once I became a photographer and noticed how SO MANY of my clients were making mistakes, I started to try and send them to do lists to help them. People weren't taking my advice so I did a before and after of myself with my makeup done wrong and then my makeup done the proper way. It immediately became a huge subject and people were going crazy for me to do their makeup, teach them what to do and I couldn't be happier. It gives me so much joy to see a bride, a model or a senior student shine with confidence and feel amazing.
