My College Advocate offers experienced, personalized college admissions counseling focused on readiness and results. With over a decade in the field, I help students identify their best-fit colleges while building confidence, self-advocacy, productivity, and a sense of personal success.
I’ve worked on both sides of the desk—as an admission officer at a small liberal arts college and as a school-based college counselor at a highly selective boarding school. This unique combination of experience gives me insight into what colleges are looking for and how to help students present their strongest, most authentic applications in today’s highly competitive landscape.
If you’re ready to navigate the college process with clarity and support, I’d be honored to work with your family.

Jane is the best! After working with another college advisor who guided us through a one-size-fits-all program, and then trying to navigate the process ourselves, we reached out to Jane feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and unsure of our next steps. From her very first email response, I knew she was exactly who we needed to help us navigate the college application process and everything that came along with it.
Our first virtual meeting confirmed that we were in good hands. What immediately stood out was how genuinely interested Jane was in getting to know our son. She listened to us, spoke directly to him, asked thoughtful questions, and was curious and excited about his interests, experiences, and goals. She wanted to hear his story. She recognized connections and strengths that we hadn't necessarily seen ourselves and offered suggestions for how he could bring those experiences into his personal statement and applications.
Jane was patient, thorough, and encouraging. She walked through the Common App line by line with our son and willingly reviewed and revisited his activities, personal statement, and supplemental essays as many times as needed until everything was polished and reflected who he was. Her calm approach gave my son clarity, confidence, and intention, rather than simply checking boxes. In the end, she gave him ownership of the process and guided him to where his Common App finally felt authentic.
Jane also brought an impressive depth of knowledge and both professional and personal experience with the colleges my son was considering (which stretched up and down the east coast).
And once my son started receiving acceptances, Jane was there to help us evaluate and expertly think through the final decision.
Our son is now happily attending an out-of-state university that is a perfect fit for his major, interests and preferences, and we are ever so grateful that we found Jane. We only wish we had looked for her sooner! We would recommend Jane to any family navigating the collegeadmissions process.

I first worked with Jane when getting my high school applications ready for college I applied to three schools in high school and got into all three after graduating with a bachelor in psychology. I reached out to Jane again when starting the journey of applying to grad school. I had an attempt to apply to UMO and my essay was not going well thanks to Janes help I have now been able to complete and apply to USM and Im working on my UML application. Jane has been a big help in this process and I know that with her help Ill have a better chance of getting in to grad school, I 100% recommend Jane Hahn for college help!

Jane Hahn, is awesome!! She helped me with my common application, supplement essays, two academy applications, and pursuing a congressional nomination. Her timely communication, editing skills, kindness, and knowledge of the college application process had a huge part in me receiving all my acceptances to both civilian universities and two military academies. Jane will help you accomplish your future goals. She is very personable and has made the college process for me a little less stressful. I would recommend her to any student!

I hired Jane as an academic advisor when my son was entering his senior year of high school and beginning his University applications. At the time, my son wasnt really sure of where he should apply. He had fixated on one particular school for most of his high school years, and hadnt really given much thought about whether that school was a great fit for him. He was attending a high achieving charter school that hadmore than a thousand students in their senior class. The schools academic advisors werent able to give each student much individualized time, and the kids were largely left on their own to sort things out andmeet their various application deadlines.Jane was a godsend to us! We opted for her all inclusive package. Her approach was both holistic and intuitive. She spent time getting to know my son, and asked him key, poignant questions to help him discover what types of schools would be his best fit. It was at this point that he realized that the school he had been so focused on wouldnt be a good fit for him.Going in, we didnt realize how stressful and complicated things could be for students as they navigate the application and selection process. Whenever our son became overwhelmed, Jane deftly stepped in and was able to advise him in a way that addressed his exact personal need.In the end, my son chose to attend a university that he hadnt considered until working with Jane. He was selected to be part of a cohort of elite scholars who had a special ability for leadership and ethics. His scholarship paid for all of his undergraduate studies including room, board and fees. He couldnt have had a better experience! He was given extraordinary opportunities that he wouldnt have had access to anywhere else. His university experience was perfectly suited to him, and we know that we owe that largely to the kind, patient and mentoring hand of Jane Hahn. She had his best interest in mind every step of the way.Jane is a gem! I couldnt recommend anyone more!
