About
Dog Savvy Positive Dog Training has been helping dogs and their people thrive since 2017. Based in Salt Lake City, UT, I offer in-home and online training designed to create real, lasting behavior change—not quick fixes or one-size-fits-all advice. What sets me apart is my deep focus on the emotional side of behavior. I don’t just train dogs—I help them feel safe, calm, and understood, which is where true behavior change begins. My methods are reward-based, science-backed, and relationship-centered, making them especially effective for sensitive, anxious, reactive, and “hard case” dogs. Clients hire me because I: Take time to understand why a behavior is happening—not just how to stop it Specialize in anxiety, reactivity, and behavior modification, not just basic obedience Use gentle, non-punitive methods that build trust instead of fear Offer clear guidance and emotional support for overwhelmed dog guardians Create custom training plans tailored to your dog, your home, and your lifestyle Whether you’re welcoming a new puppy or rescue dog, or struggling with serious behavior challenges with your current dog, I’ll meet you where you are and give you practical tools that actually work. Training Services Puppy Training Potty training, crate and playpen training, puppies who cry in the crate for hours, puppy biting, destructive behaviors, and early prevention for fear, aggression, and hyperactivity. Ideal for shy, sensitive, or high-energy puppies. Dog Separation Anxiety Training For dogs who panic, vocalize, or become destructive when left alone—or who scream or cry in their crate for hours. Specialized protocols focused on helping dogs feel safe when alone. Leash Reactivity & General Reactivity Training For dogs who bark, lunge, or melt down when they see other dogs, people, or animals—on walks or at home. Barking & Nuisance Behavior Solutions Excessive barking, jumping, impulse control issues, and poor household manners—addressed through calm, effective, trust-based training. Aggressive Dog Training & Behavior Modification Resource guarding, territorial aggression, dog-to-dog aggression, and bite history cases handled with experience, compassion, and safety as top priorities. 📅 Book a consultation today and get expert support for you and your dog!

Alexandra is such an amazing dog trainer. She is so patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I worked with her after adopting a 5 month old puppy who had a lot to work on. He had no prior socialization experiences and he is a high energy breed. After working with Alexandra for almost 3 months hes in such a better place. Im very thankful for Alexandra and all of the time she spent helping us.

I recently met with Alexandra at Dog Savvy for a one-hour session after an unsettling incident at the dog park in June. She was incredibly caring and reassuring from the very beginning, which immediately helped calm my worries. Throughout the session, she took the time to listen, understand the situation, and provide thoughtful feedback tailored to my dogs and my concerns. Her training advice was clear, practical, and easy to follow. She explained not only what to do but also why it works, which gave me much more confidence moving forward. I truly appreciated her compassionate approach she never made me feel judged, only supported.By the end of the hour, I left feeling both reassured and empowered with new strategies to keep my dogs safe and well-behaved. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trainer who is knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely cares about both dogs and their owners.

Alexandra was so helpful! I was having trouble with separation anxiety in my Italian Greyhound puppy. Her virtual training sessions were interactive and each session built upon the last one. The training games were fun and kept my puppy's attention. After only a few weeks, he's shown a great amount of progress. I highly recommend Alexandra to anybody looking for dog training!

Alex helped us train our (2) rescues and they now listen to commands and walk loose leash. The CBT approach to training is a fantastic and effective way to train your pups. Thanks Alex!

I’m so glad to hear the pups are listening and walking nicely on a leash. It was a pleasure working with you and your family, and Daisy and Ollie, too, of course! Thank you so much for the review!
