From the time I made our consultation appointment to the last item carefully placed in our new home, all we received was professionalism and efficiency. Browns Moving and Storage company is reasonably priced with the utmost integrity and patience. Joe, personally came into my home for a consultation and explained, step-by-step, his process and prices. We had a month's gap between the day I made the appointment to the actual moving date (11.26.2014) and I emailed him at least 10 times asking questions about the move. That's not because Joe made things unclear, it's because I have trust issues. Moving on, Joe never appeared frustrated or impatient with me and answered every question promptly. Joe arrived at my apartment early with two other men who were just as professional and experienced. They transported my furniture to our new home carefully with thick furniture pads for protection which was included in our fee. They also unpacked the large pieces of furniture and placed them as requested. They knew how to manage their time wisely and also strategically placed each item in the truck so that one trip was all we needed. Oh let me not forgot, it was the DAY before Thanksgiving and on top of that it was raining and snowing. It didn't slow them down from getting the job done. I was thoroughly pleased with their services. Thank you Joe and staff for all your services and wish you a prosperous 2015!

There is no reason to use any other company in the MD/DC/VA area - Brown Moving is simply the best. Joe and his worker M****n were punctual, careful, and courteous during a recent move from Virginia to Pennsylvania. They were fast and efficient with packing and loading/unloading. The original plan was that they pack one evening and then load/transport/unload the next day, but they were flexible enough to do in one night due to the possibility of rain/sleet the next day, even though that meant unloading the truck at my destination well after 11:00PM. They definitely went above and beyond in their service, they stayed within their already low estimate (33% - 40% lower than other area companies), and they worked without any complaints or arguments. I have already recommended them to my colleagues, and I will continue to do so. Some people may have a few minor issues - (1) There was no deposit or contract, and I didn't sign any documents regarding the move. Most of our communication was via email, including their estimated cost breakdown. I didn't mind the paperless communication, but it might make some people uncomfortable. (2) The wardrobe boxes that Joe uses have to be unpacked and returned to him after he unloads the truck. He told me this multiple times, so I was prepared to unpack the hanging clothes into the empty closet at my destination. Make sure you listen to him, especially if you're used to movers who just unload the truck and drive away. I presume that he would allow you to keep the wardrobe boxes if you paid for them. (3) It's a completely cash transaction, but since he tells you the exact amount for the move, you only need to maintain a small buffer for unexpected costs. Brown Moving is not the kind of company that's going to add an extra $20 for an extra box or two. I was a bit uneasy about the all-cash transaction, but I was willing to revert to my Luddite ways and forego checks and credit cards. If it makes you feel any better, the payment is due at the completion of the move. Once again, there is no reason to use any other company in the MD/DC/VA area - Brown Moving is simply the best.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge one fixed rate for the total move. There are 2 ways to get an accurate quote. I can stop by to take a look for free or you can send us a list of items.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Not bragging or full of myself but I don't need to. I have mastered my craft. I do however educate my workers from time to time but they are pros!
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I use to work for the INS and I got bored sitting at my desk. I wanted to do something physical so I worked for a major moving company. While working for the company all my customers told me how good I was and that I should start my own business so that is exactly what I did.
