- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
So for a family photo shoot I charge $250, which includes my time at the event. Travel to and from your photographic event. Up to 60 minutes of the photographers time at the event. All the best images from the shoot are put into a secure online folder for you to view and choose 5 professionally enhanced copyright-free images. Any additional images chosen are $30 each.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Once a potential customer contacts me I will take the time to fully understand the nature of the specific photo shoot, be it a family portrait, pet portrait, a special event or commercial event. It's important to me that I understand the event so we can then discuss how I will best achieve the results you're looking for. We will discuss the location, time of day, time period for processing and any special requests or items you may want covering. Once we've agreed a day I'll provide a few pointers to help the photo shoot go smoothly, and I'll confirm the event the day before and on the day to make sure there's no last minute problem with timing. I can reschedule to suit you as making sure you're happy with the photo shoot is imperative. On the day of the shot I will arrive at your location in plenty of time and we'll spend time discussing any last minute changes required and potential shooting locations within the environment, then the fun begins! The photo shoot will take as long as it takes until I'm happy I've captured all the images that you will need for a memorable event.Sometimes this takes around an hour, sometimes less, sometimes longer. I only ever book one photo session a day to ensure I have maximum flexibility. Once we're done with the photo shoot I'll go back to my office and start the digital processing to enhance your images to make them the best they can possibly be. A few days later I'll provide you with a USB pen that contains all the images that I think capture the photo session at its best. Now please note, unlike other photographers you'll receive a USB pen with all the images for you to keep. You wont be forced to select a favorite and then have that one printed, you can have all the images for you to keep and use however you want, for pictures, on Facebook, on greetings cards, or posters. I'll be there to make sure you can use the images I've created used to their best.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
From the age of 18 I started at the largest regional newspaper in the United Kingdom and worked there until 2007 when I left to come to the USA with my husband. In those years as a press photographer I've covered all manner of photo sessions from Royal Family events, to sporting cup finals. My specialty was always dealing with people though and knowing how to get the best out of them for a photo. Since leaving the newspaper and coming to the USA I've really enjoyed photographing families, children and pets in the Washington DC area. It's not as busy as being on a newspaper, but it's just as rewarding.
