I was a renter. Hired this company for some move-out lawn care. I want to provide some of my reviews, but also those of my landlord, who interacted directly with this woman. Here is a text exchange from the woman gardener to me. For context, the "she is saying she isn't going to pay us" isn't true. But I just want to note the tone and anger from this person, and let this serve as a warning to anyone else who might want to hire.

When we moved out of a place recently, I hired KeyChoice to mow the lawn and trim the bushes for $165. Below is a review from my previous landlord:
When the KeyChoice contractor trimmed the front bushes the first time, she didn’t cut them back enough. I showed her a photo of the bushes at the desired height and agreed to pay her an additional $150 to cut down the front bushes and trim some bushes in the backyard.
When she finished, the bushes were still too tall, so I asked her to cut them more, which she refused to do. When I told her I would pay her once she completed the work she had agreed to, she threw a fit, called me names - specifically targeting me for being Asian American, took a video of me and threatened to post it online, and also threatened to put a lien on my property, saying, “It’s so easy to put a lien on a property in this county (MoCo).” She further threatened to tell all my neighbors that I don’t pay for work done, and then called the police on me! At the time, I hadn’t even realized she had left a lot of clippings under the bushes and grass trimmings in the backyard, as shown in the pictures.

At KeyChoice, we take great pride in delivering high-quality service and professionalism to every customer. We have consistently received 5-star reviews, reflecting the dedication and care we bring to every project.
Regarding the job at 8002 Postoak Drive, Potomac MD; we completed all work as outlined in the original agreement and accommodated several additional requests made by the landlord during the walk-through. We clearly communicated that pruning beyond 8 inches and work in the backyard were not included in the original scope and would incur extra charges. Despite this, we went above and beyond to meet the client’s expectations.
Our technician on-site is African American woman, and she was repeatedly called “girl” by the landlord—a term which is considered a racial slur aimed at diminishing African American women. (We have a very nice recording of this interaction).
Unfortunately, after the work was completed, the client and landlord attempted to avoid payment. We have video documentation and written communications supporting our account, including evidence disproving the false claims of inappropriate or discriminatory comments towards Asian Americans, which are categorically untrue. These allegations are deeply hurtful and appear to be retaliatory due to our insistence on fair compensation.
The police were involved, and a report is on file. Eventually, the outstanding balance was paid after the tenant acknowledged in text that the landlord did not want to be “known for not paying bills.” However, the client then left a misleading 1-star review on Thumbtack, which does not reflect the quality of work delivered or the truth of the situation. We will be looking into these slanderous terms/language made on this platform by this tenant.
We welcome any prospective customer to reach out to our past clients for honest feedback or to review our documentation and video of the completed work. We also appreciate Thumbtack for providing a platform that values truth, fairness and professionalism.
