Ryan’s Violin Lab

Hi! I’m Ryan, a professional violinist and teacher based in the North VA and Washington, D.C. area. I am a tenured violinist of the Washington National Opera Orchestra and Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. I have also performed with leading American orchestras including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. I hold a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music and a Bachelor of Music from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where I received extensive training as both a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician. I enjoy working with students of different ages and levels, from beginners building their first technical foundation to more advanced students preparing for youth orchestra auditions, school ensembles, competitions, and conservatory study. My teaching focuses on developing a healthy and reliable technique, strong musical fundamentals, and—most importantly—helping each student find enjoyment and confidence in their playing. Everyone learns differently, I tailor lessons to each individual’s goals, experience, and learning habits. Whether the student is just picking up the fiddle for the first time, returning after some time away, or looking for more advanced guidance, I would be happy to help you take the next step in your playing.
