Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I bring a level of patience that is evident at first contact with a client. A wise accomplished teaching professional shared this quote with me during my initial teaching journey, "students don't care what you know until they know that you care." That bit of advice is the cornerstone to establishing a rapport with students in the classroom as well as with one-on-one clients. Lastly, recognition that Math does not come easy to most students as well as clients. Math comes easy for most Math Teachers and that should be used as a pathway to individual Math Competency for the client and should not be used to make the client feel inadequate in the content area. I have experienced classrooms where the instructor has a "why don't you know this approach." That approach is never conducive to a positive teaching/learning exchange. Teaching doesn't happen until learning is happening. Until learning happens, it's just noise. Observing the joy and sense of personal accomplishment when the "light comes on" for a student. "I got it." Priceless.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I had a Math Professor in college during my undergraduate studies whom inspired me to be a teacher. Although I didn't begin to teach full time until I was retired from the military, I always knew eventually I would be in a math classroom.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Establish a rapport with your provider...soon! A positive Teacher vs student/client interaction is critical to the learning process.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Math Competency is a personal and unique journey. That journey can take gratuitous routes for different clients. Students need to take a path that best fits their learning style and ultimately leads them to their math goals. Recognize one size doesn't necessarily fits all.
