I recently got a DUI and had no idea about how to proceed and next steps. I had heard of Thumbtack so I came on here seeking advice. Faraji was one of the first to respond- he offered to meet me in person to talk through the charges and provide some clarity. He came off as very knowledgeable and personable, so I decided to give him a shot. He was very professional throughout the entire process and was able to negotiate a deal with the prosecutor that alllowed me to put this whole experience behind me. Faraji Rosenthal is a thorough, intelligent and compassionate attorney who helped get my daughters drug possession charges dismissed. I first contacted Mr. Rosenthal at 6:30AM after leaving The hospital where my adult daughter was recovering from an overnight drug overdose and was being charged with drug possession. Since it was so early in the day I sent him an email and he contacted me back only15 minutes later. I was in a daze, panicked for my child's health and fearful of a first time drug charge. All of this was new to me. I knew nothing about interacting with the police and court, especially on a felony.mMr. Rosenthal was calm, patient, compassionate and detailed in explaining step by step what was going to happen after my child got out of the hospital and had to turn herself over to authorities. He spent a lot of time on the phone with us that weekend ( he was out of town on a prior commitment ) while my daughter was in jail. His experience as a former district attorney helped him explain the Courts point of view. As my daughters attorney he managed to get her released without posting bail. This was a huge help. The first of many positive results in our interaction with him. We are former residents of Fairfax but have moved 9 hours away. My daughters arrest came when we were back visiting Fairfax. Mr. Rosenthal was mindful of our travel restrictions and our interactions were mainly by text and email. He was quick in all responses to us. When we had phone calls his confident, calm and respectful demeanor always left us feeling better about the case. At the same time, he never made promises of outcome and was patient in answering our repeated questions and concerns. Because of unusual circumstances our case lingered for almost 2 years. While our daughter was his client, we paid his fee. Mr. Rosenthal always kept us in the loop, with her permission, and was respectful of her wishes, despite her often combative attitude due to mental health issues. He was so patient with her, listened to her and helped her understand in detail her choices and the ramifications of each choice. When her case was continued after a year, he quickly corrected the Probation Office from extending her probation ( which the judge had not ordered) saving her from more expense, travel and time. As a result of his professional and thorough representation her felony charge was dismissed. Every interaction with Mr. Rosenthal was a positive one. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Almost all cases are billed on a flat fee basis. That, as opposed to an hourly fee, means that you will pay one set price for the entire case from beginning to end. You will know that fee up-front. Whether the case gets continued multiple times or ends up taking several days, you will never pay anything more than the original quoted fee.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Almost all client relationships start with a free consultation. This can either be done in person, over the phone or via email depending on the clients preference. Criminal law is not a one size fits all offering. Everything from pricing to potential outcomes will depend on the facts of your case. After that consultation, I will describe in detail my initial strategy for defending your case. I will also describe the strengths and weaknesses of the potential evidence. Finally, I will provide an exact quote for my services.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I earned my law degree from Georgetown University. I worked for a judge in the Fairfax County Circuit while in Law School. My first law job was in the Prosecutor's Office in Fairfax County where I tried all types of criminal cases for 4 years. I continually receive education in criminal law throughout the year to stay abreast of changes in the law.
