I was nearing 50 and took a good look at my life 2 years ago and knew I needed to make some personal positive changes. I was overweight and out of shape and suffer from major back problems for years and recently had major back surgery. First change; I lost a hundred pounds! Second change; I incorporate better eating and more exercise into my life to keep this weight off. I had been walking 5 -7 days a week but really wanted to tighten and tone up more and add strength training for muscle building. My daughter came across an ad for the Pirate Girl Booty and suggested we give this a try together. At first I was hesitant and not sure at my age and physical shape if I could do this type of workout but was willing to try with her support. since loosing all the weight I have more energy and desire to be strong and fit so we met with the trainer, Laurie and had a great meeting. We discussed our concerns and desire to be fit and healthy. Laurie was awesome and understanding and so encouraging. We started a training schedule and have been going nonstop since! Laurie works with each of us to help meet our needs and goals and is able to modify routines that meet each of our needs. The personal one on one is awesome. She watches our forms during our routines and constantly supports and encourages us to push ourselves to our full potential. You do not get this type of one on one care or concern at those over crowded generic fitness centers. I am seeing results and feeling stronger than ever! Thank you Laurie!!! I could not have done this without your support and encouragement!!! So glad my daughter came across your ad and we reached out to you!!!! You have made a difference in our lives!!!!

Thank you so much Anne! I'm so glad that we crossed paths and I hope that we have many, many more sessions together! You push harder than ANY 50 year old I've ever met. You see your future, you push, and I know you'll achieve! You're an amazing lady :)

I started seeing Laurie in January 2012. A friend and I came across her company and thought it would be a good fit as we were looking to start our New Year with a new look on fitness and health. After a few sessions with Laurie we knew we had found the right place! I’ve used gym trainers in the past but found I couldn’t depend on them and more over I couldn’t make a personal connection and the personal connection for me is what keeps me coming back. Laurie is like your good friend who’s been there and done that. She knows what it takes to get to your goal whether its weight loss, overall health or strength. In my opinion, Pirate Girl Fitness Company is all about empowering women in their fitness and health goals. We work with dumbbells, resistance bands, medicine balls and my personal favorite, kettle bells. Training with Laurie has really changed my outlook on myself. I’m excited to see her, I’m excited to workout, I’m excited to watch my body change and keep setting new goals for myself. I know that by sticking with Laurie I will continue to meet my health and fitness goals!

I started working with Laurie in Nov 2014. Before that, for the last 15-20 years I tried to lose weight but kept gaining. At 48 my knees are going to need to be replaced soon and I had to lose the weight. Finally in July 2014 my orthopedic doctor told me to either lose the weight or be in a wheelchair. He was not going to operate on me at this weight. So at 280lb I put in my best effort with no success. I was beside myself and getting depressed. I needed something different and in Nov 2014 I googled the “something different” I needed. Pirate Girl Fitness was the best decision I ever made. I had a good feeling from the start. Laurie has been through the same struggles, and she understands. Even with my knee issues she found workouts that fit me. I love the one-on-one and small groups. We talk about my weight loss goals and about nutrition. She is so encouraging and truly cares about her clients. I love that I get to work out with kettlebells, medicine balls, ropes and punching bag, just to name a few. No tread mills here. She makes working out fun and always has new ideas. Not only did I find a wonderful trainer but I found a wonderful friend. Now 8 months and 50lbs lighter I just love my workouts and I feel stronger, healthier and happier then I have in a long time. Laurie thank you for all you do!!!!

I have been training with Laurie for about 2 years now. She is such an awesome trainer. She is not only concerned about you getting a good workout, she cares about you as a person. She provides nutrition and personal guidance. I am definitely a stronger, healthier, and happier woman than I was 2 years ago. I consider Laurie not only my trainer but a friend. I HIGHLY recommend Laurie if you are a woman looking for a trainer that cares about your overall health and well-being.

Thank you Karen, it's been a great 2 years! It really means so much, the trust that you put in me, makes me smile :) I'm looking forward to many, many more workouts together! You are an amazing lady, with a deep determination. You understand that there's more to fitness than just the workout and that's why you WILL succeed!

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I got into this line of work after hiring a personal trainer to help me lose 100 pounds and doing just that!

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most all of my clients are one on one or very small groups. We perform physical assessments with each new client to see where they are with their fitness level. All clients that sign up for one of our month to month programs get entered into our online personal training system where they can track their progress, get nutritional help and additional workout programs for the days that they may miss or if they take a vacation but still need a quality workout! We've got you covered no matter what!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My advice for any customer looking to hire a trainer is to make sure that the trainer is qualified, licensed and insured! There are a lot of people out there with good intentions but not enough knowledge about the human body and how it works.
