J. Portillo Construction is a small, well managed company with enough permanent employees to tackle all kinds of concrete and masonry projects. We had a 40 ft. brick, knee retaining wall collapse. Jose gave us a quote on a Wednesday and the new and more attractive retaining wall was completed by the following Friday. We were so pleased with the company's work that we have retained J. Portillo for another masonry project.
Leonardo is honest and reasonable in his pricing - he is conscientious and diligent in his efforts to do a good job and always makes sure you are satisfied - if there is an issue, it's typically minor and he always takes the time to correct it to your satisfaction. His work ethic is strong and he works tirelessly, often well beyond normal working hours, to finish a job on time. There is, on rare occasion, a minor language barrier but if you take your time it is always manageable. Leonardo cleans up after himself and puts his tools away before leaving for the day - he is not always on time but he is very good about letting you know he is running late, usually via text. I would definitely rate him as a 5 star contractor. He did all the tile work, some drywall and all the framing in our basement project to date and plans to help us with the last few things as we complete the project.
Matt retiled my 3 bathrooms. He took out the old tiles, put in concrete backing (goes under the tiles, that way all the tiles are even and prevent tile movement and grout breaking), and added the tiles and new grout. Wow, he did an amazing job. His cost is excellent, hi estimates were under other competitors (and because he did such a good job, I actually gave him an additional $100 for doing such a great job). He works hard. He is very professional. He is kind and explains what he is going to do. I had no idea how many days it would even take, I assumed a week. He estimated, before he came, it would take 3 days, it actually took 4 and it was definitely worth the extra day. He made sure the work was completed and looked great, which it did. Matt is definitely going into my contact list and I will make sure friends and family know about him! Thank you Matt! Shawn
I hired Nilto to "finish" a room in my basement which we were turning into a gym. He framed half of a wall, hung drywall on two of the walls and the ceiling, installed an outlet, built a small custom railing, painted the drywall, and installed rubber flooring. Nilto took time to discuss the project and make recommendations based on his expertise. He even came back to our house to discuss the project with my wife and ensure she was comfortable with the plan. The project took a few days longer than expected (mostly due to uncontrollable things like drying plaster...etc) but was still finished in a reasonable timeframe. I had to point out a number of things that needed to be fixed (small things like some screws were sticking out, a few anchors in our concrete walls needed to be removed, the baseboards were a bit crooked), but Nilto took care of them quickly and send pictures to me throughout the project to be sure I was happy prior to returning home from work for the day. Overall, the price was excellent and at that price, I am very happy with the work Nilto did.
Patrick was very responsive by phone and email. He stopped by in the evening after another job to give us an estimate the same day we spoke and decided to stay and complete the job in less than an hour. Termites had damaged a section of an engineered wood plank which he removed and replaced with extra wood we had on hand. The uneven concrete subfloor caused the plank to bow so I had to find weights to keep it pressed into the adhesive. He had left his sand bags at his other job as he had not anticipated doing the work that day. The work was excellent, Patrick was very polite, the price was fair and the clean up fine. I would highly recommend him for floor installations. and repair.
Burch Masonry was a great experience. Dion was knowledgeable, personable, and responsive. He laid out exactly what needed to be done (concrete repair and railing re-set for rowhouse stairs) and followed through with the project at the agreed upon time and on schedule. The bid was very competitive as well.
I have a beautiful new stamped concrete patio at an affordable price thanks to Carlos. His work is outstanding and prompt. I recommend him to anyone needing his landscaping talents. Maryann White
Mike and his team installed a concrete patio with brick border and brick step, and other concrete repairs around our home. Mike was easy to communicate with, the quality and price were very good, and we are very happy with the final result. We will definitely use them again in the future and recommend them to others looking for hardscape work.
Gabriel was an excellent choice for us. He was prompt and professional. He arrived on time for our estimate and was prepared to provide us with recommendations for our project. We needed a small staircase built from our back door onto our patio. We had wooden steps that needed removal and concrete paver steps built. Gabriel was very knowledgeable about this work and offered to comeback the next day with materials to show us. He completed the job in one day and was very respectful of our property and cleaned up afterwards. The price for the job was reasonable and he offered us a 5 year warranty. We would recommend Gabriel to our fellow neighbors and friends. We would absolutely use Gabriel again in the future as well.
I have used roofing contractors, siding contractors, hvac contractors, gutter contractors, and patio Concrete contractors in the past. They all have similar traits. They are late, they pull workers off my job to work elsewhere, and they don’t finish on time! Not with GAN Construction, they showed up on time and the same crew worked on the project from beginning to end. I contracted GAN to do three concrete jobs, 1) pour a concrete slab for a 12’x12’ shed on a sloping rear yard, 2) pour a concrete walkway from the front of the house to the drive way, and 3) cut a hole in the garage floor and pour a recessed pit to accommodate my lift. Because the concrete slab for the shed is on a slope, they actually poured in a concrete footer and built a cinder block foundation wall to support the slab. The garage job was a bit more complicated. The pit had to meet code to support my lift which is capable of supporting 7000 lbs. Their engineers determined the concrete will need to sit on 5 pillars (3-4 deep below backfill) and the concrete pit itself was built with rebar every 12 inches and wire mesh. The concrete is 12 inches thick! It is not going anywhere! The walk was a piece of cake so I thought. Because the old walk way has settled more than 7 inches in different spots, GAN decided to tie the walk was into the concrete steps with rebar ever 2 feet. The earth was compacted to reduce possible setting in the near future. Over all I am very pleased with the work GAN did. The crew was very professional, kept the work area clean and when they left, it was as if they were never there. I would highly recommend using GAN for your concrete projects! Dr. Al Wong
B&G Construction did an amazing job! I had them rip up about 200 sq feet of concrete, regrade the backyard, and then sod the entire area. They were able to do the job very quickly, and the price was very reasonable. It was a pleasure to work with them, and I highly recommend B&G.
I called 10 different contractors D&D mason contractors were the only ones who got back to me the same day. They were the only ones who were out to give me a quote within a day and completed the work quickly, professionally, and went above and beyond. I had to get a sidewalk fixed and front porch fixed for the buyer of our property before we close in a couple weeks. No one else could even give me a quote within 2 weeks. They saved the day by doing what they do normally, honest fast and good guys.
My project was front concrete step. Trana made a quick assessment, scheduled a time to start, and followed thru in a timely manner. Very conscientious and considerate. Charged a fair price, and performed a excellent job. I would recommend them for future work.
I am very happy with the job Raul did for me today. He pressure washed our patio and patio fence at our townhouse, and it all looks great. The concrete patio is decorative with small river stones embedded in exposed aggregate concrete. Someone took time to make this patio years ago, and Raul's attentive cleaning revealed the nice features. The patio fence is 100% better looking too, the garden all still intact and we'll follow Raul's advice to seal the fence as soon as it is dry. He arrived at the agreed time and honored his quote. I recommend Raul!
We had a wonderful experience with Charles, Darcia and their skilled staff. They were very prompt, no hidden fees and the end product was satisfactory. I would highly recommend them. I also appreciate that they didn't try to "put one over" on me as some contractors do to female patrons. Keep up the good work Landsdowne!!
We were lucky; John showed up promptly, and he was a helpful professional in every respect. After a careful inspection of our existing siding, he asked us what our perceived needs were. We had ben told by two previous contractors that a leak between the attached garage and the house would require removal of all existing siding on the entire house, followed by a Tyvek wrapping. This would be followed by putting new siding, etc. on the entire house. These were both pricey, (15K) proposals, just to fix a targeted small leak. ($$$$$$$) John said that overall, his inspection revealed that our existing siding, etc. looked to be in very good shape, with the exception of that small portion of the exterior wall between the house and garage. Get this; he suggested that the most prudent and cost-effective remedy for this situation was the careful removal of the existing siding only on that wall. The wall would be then wrapping with Tyvek and the original siding would be re-installed. Any siding damaged during removal could be replaced with existing siding taken from a portion of our house that is obscured from view. Cost? less than 10% of the other two estimates ($) How refreshing it was to meet a contractor who is concerned with the actual needs of a customer, rather than making a profit off of an unsuspecting client by charging them for doing extensive, expensive, and unneeded work. If I could give him 6 stars, I would.
Our concrete driveway was in need of serious repair. We had a concern over a tree next to the drive and possible roots under the drive. Chris Harvey was contacted to look at the repair job and also to work with a representative from Care of Trees to make sure that any work on the drive would not damaged the tree. Chris got a crew in, the took out the old concrete, took all of it away. Laid an iron grid and had new concrete poured. The work was done very well, the drive looks great. We are very pleased with the outcome. The price was we felt reasonable and it was a pleasure to work with Chris. We have also asked him to look at some other work that we need on our property.
Frank and his crew did an outstanding job for us. They replaced a sidewalk from our drive way to our front steps and fixed a railing for the front steps but most importantly they gave us a new stamped concrete patio out back that is huge and beautiful. They were great to work with and very attentive. Could not be happier. Great service, work and price. Would definitely recommend F&C Enterprises, Inc. In fact we have already to friends, family and neighbors. I believe several have already called him about their projects.
Mr. Miller and his crew were able to transform parts of my home. My concrete stair hazard went from an eyesore to a magnificent deck entryway that earn me compliments from my neighbors and guests. Not too mention, my beautiful and luxurious tile bathroom that I enjoy every day! Thanks again for your hard work!
Jeff and Sandy at Olde Port worked with me and the bank on a major remodel of our foreclosed house, we had almost everything under the sun renovated or replaced on this house (See list below). They started work the day after we closed and did not stop until the job was done and done to my satisfaction (which is a pretty hard achievement). Not only did they make quick work, they did everything right the first time and at a great price. They constantly communicated with me throughout this process and I always knew when they were going to be at my house. Their workers were polite, professional, and on-time; they even asked before using the restroom or going into another part of the house to check on things. Our house was built in 1984 and just about everthing including the water heater was from the 80s. We moved in the same day our roof was getting replaced and the workers didn't miss a beat, they still finished the entire roof in 1 day. Olde Port always answered my questions and did not try to up-sell me, they recommened and gave me the products I needed. They even handled our permits needed for the electrical and plumbing work. I would highly recommend this contractor for any job big or small. Major remodel - New roof New seamless gutters New skylight window Replaced all windows in the house with high energy efficient windows Concrete repairs including a new front step New trench drains Repaired trim around garage doors and painted garage doors New doors Landscaping - Removed trees away from house Plumbing - new water heater, fixed toilet leaks Electrical - repaired and replaced light fixtures, switches and outlets
Kevin is an outstanding Brick Mason and concrete worker. He and his crew are clean, professional and courteous of my property. I had the opportunity to see his work before selecting him to pour my patio. He comes highly recommended to perform future work for anyone in need.
